Doesn't mean anything in the slightest. If this guy does this professionally, he'd have a ton autographs. Some purchased, some simply gotten through going to signing events.

Yea, it obviously doesn't mean anything until their is further proof...but I'd imagine if one was getting paid it was at least discussed with the others...and the chance that they took the bait is there.

I think it would kinda suck if arguably the 4 most exciting players got in trouble. Wouldn't mind Braxton and Manziel though

Yea, I would kinda be upset if Clowney was actually involved in this. Man I love watching that guy play...

Not that the house of cards isn't coming down at some point anyway, but if all of these guys get in trouble for getting paid for their autograph then the collapse of the NCAA will be expedited.

This was my thought, maybe somehow this could be a positive and the NCAA will loosen up

Totally agree. The broker even told ESPN that Manziel signed a ton of stuff for him after the Bama game and he didn't pay him for it. Money never came up until "Uncle Nate" called and said Johnny wasn't going to be doing anything more for free.

How will the collapse of the NCAA be expedited?

What collapse?

The NCAA is a 1200 member organization holding 89 championships in 23 sports and governing over 400,000 student athletes. It won't collapse until its members decide to shut it down. It's not going to happen because some fans don't like a particular rule or policy. The rules are set by vote of the membership (university and college presidents). The adminstration (employees) gets to interpret those rules but if the members don't like the results they can change the rules or change employees as they have done over the years.

What's the alternative to the NCAA, the 257 member NAIA composed of generally small schools? Their rules are comparable to the NCAAs.

The abysmal AAU which struggles to handle 8 to 18 year old kids?

As much as I dislike Ohio State, I can't root for Braxton Miller to be in trouble. He seems like a good dude and is fun to watch when he freestyles on the field.

That clown Urban can burn. But until he does something dumb on/off the field, I hope Miller stays clean.

I don't always root for people's demise, but when I do I prefer O$U.

Speaking of good dudes, my heart would break for Teddy Bridgewater if something like this happened. Manziel getting busted is cool because he's a d-bag. All of the leading Heisman candidates getting busted would be a scandal and CFB doesn't need any more scandals.

It's interesting that all of these schools (OSU, SCar, USC) compliance departments quickly investigated allegations and have spoken out in support of their players, yet A&M's compliance department is still hard at work trying to clear their guys name.

If Clowney was suspended it would probably be the best thing that could happen to him. He could get caught with a hooker and an ounce of blow and still go #1. He wouldn't have to risk a 50 million dollar deal by getting hurt this year.

True story. I "hate" Louisville due to being at UC fan, but Teddy makes it VERY hard to not root for them. He's a class act, a tough SOB, and a tremendous QB on top of it all.

The addition of Michael Dyer balances that out though in terms of my feelings towards UofL.

Agreed. He's the only player right now that a suspension would likely mean nothing if he had good interviews.

Seriously increased security around a physical specimen like Clowney? Isn't him just saying "no" going to be enough for someone to know to back off lol....6'6 275lb...that would be enough for me

And on the flip side I think a year suspension would be the most detrimental to Johnny Football.

"Increased" security. How many bodyguards did he have before?

Handcuff him to a nanny with an umbrella?

Duct tape his hands?

I have seen this first hand, Lattimore and Clowney routinely give autographs on all kinds of stuff for free. They are "ambassadors" for the school ( if you will) to many long time fans that have been waiting for the program to get to the level it is at. They take pictures at events that tons of So. Carolina fans show up too and are very nice, especially Lattimore. Young kids are finally getting to see football stars at USC. I hope nothing comes out of this for the sake of those two.

I don't think anything will. For Clowney being the MEGAstar that he is, he is a pretty low key guy. Seems like a humble, classy good dude.

My heart wouldn't break for anybody if they knowingly violated the rules and benefited from it. Call me old fashioned.

You have severely underestimated the persistence of professional autograph seekers. They are relentless and would only see dollar signs when thinking about the consequences of a beating at the hands of Clowney. That's a much bigger payday than a signature.
