Carlo, Fox, Grace, Moore, Schmidt, Deeb, Anzalone. That's 7 next year and 5 for 2014. Say you move Rabasa and Utopo to ILB. That's 7 for 2014 plus recruits for 2014.

I wasn't implying that ILB depth is a major problem, but after DT, it's the position of greatest need for us. As you mentioned, the numbers and lack of experienced depth strongly militate in favor of bringing back both Calabrese and Fox.

Both Rabasa and Utupo have been listed as ILBs before, probably because they're hybrid guys who best fit the ILB physical profile, but neither is currently listed at the position. I'm not confident that either of them (particularly Utupo, who appears to be a one-dimensional pass-rusher) can provide quality depth on the inside.

BTW you didn't include Schmidt, but the staff really likes him.

Yes, Schmidt's availability does mitigate the depth concerns somewhat. But I only track scholarship players. If he's good enough to make the 2-deep, he'll earn a scholarship soon enough.

Ok. Say Fox and Carlo come back you have this.

I'm with Whiskey here. ILB is such an important position that I don't ever want to have to rely on unproven players. Schmidt is a great special teams player but he is undersized to play ILB for us. Utupo is a pass rusher who never grasped ILB. I noticed Rabasa played DE against Wake in garbage time, and he has been listed at OLB all season; I don't want to read too much into that, but I don't know whether he is cut out to play ILB either.

I do think both Carlo and Fox come back, and with them we are probably ok next year, but experienced depth will be thin in 2014. Four real ILBs, probably only one of whom will have logged much playing time at the position. I'd love to have a lot of uber-talented bodies to throw at that problem and see who emerges. Trey Johnson would make me feel a lot better about it.

All good points. I agree with you I think.

I wonder if he has to give the money back - or if he can put that toward tatoo removal?

I think you may be thinking of Rueben Foster. Not sure that Trey ever got an auburn tatoo. Its was foster that got that ugly mess on his forearm.

Could be in the NCG next year. I'll bet my vBucks they run the table with their joke of a schedule next year.

If they lose a game Urban should be fired.

It looks like another looooong fall on campus this fall. Oh how I miss 2011.

Interesting ESPiN article about how 4 recruits ended up at their selective schools. One of them is Trey Johnson.

"He is such a hands-on recruiter when he wants somebody," said Wofford, the Central Gwinnett coach. "He recruits the family, the coach. He recruits the lunch lady."

Does he tell her she's the next Percy Harvin too?
