Loy recently posted an update as well where his take is the same. He can't see Holmes picking UCLA after one visit. If UCLA blew him away that much he would at least take officials to both schools before deciding.

I think we have a far better shot with Lazard than with Dupre.

I agree but the point of my post was that Dupre is the #1 WR on the staff's board, he's a "save a spot" type player, and if the other 3 spots fill up (Brent, Holmes, Quick for example) then the staff will have to choose if they try to get a commitment out of Lazard and Izzy as well....meaning potentially 6 WR in this class. I just don't see that happening.

Was going to post this last night but forgot. TJ at II explained this a couple weeks ago. The staff plans on bringing Izzy on board and he's a different position than Quick. They view him as an APB coming out of the backfield. He said currently the staff views it as Brent, Holmes, Quick, and Izzy (for the sake of this conversation) and we'll always recruit the top players that fit ND. So we'll continue to recruit Lazard and Dupree but the focus may shift to more pressing needs. Also, Izzy isn't a conditional offer. If he can get in, we want him. Another example of being worked out personally by staff and them wanting his skill set on the team.

Interesting. This changes my entire thought process and makes my last few posts in this thread hogwash. LOL.

That would be one hell of a class of skill players to go along with Hood. Brent at the W, Holmes at the X, Quick at the Z, Izzy as a mainly shifty back who can also line up in the slot, Hood as a mainly power back who can also blow people away with speed and quickness. If that was the final group, they would all complement each other really nicely and I'd be a happy camper.

Who, exactly is at the Y?

He is my favorite receiver for 2014

How... he's the 24th best in the country at WR and a 3:s: according to scout. You must have some low expectations.

Per Scout, not rivals. Scout sucks. But yeah I have to imagine there are much better receivers that we have a shot with. But hey, if Corey is his favorite, who are we to knock it?

He's still my favorite receiver btw

And don't look at his rating. Just look at his offer list, that speaks for itself

Why besides offer list? There's many receivers on our board and in the country with equal or better offer lists.

I think Corey is a good WR but I wouldn't call him my favorite

Malone was my want at wr this year

Ugh, mine too. It'll take me a while to get over Malone. Still not sure what happened, if he just didn't have much ND interest or what.

Snagging Dupre would definitely help.

Are offer lists ever affected by the school you go to... say, for example, your highschool is one of the most consistent producers of D-1 talent in talent-rich Florida?

His tape and Brent's tape are kinda similar to me. They both showed good speed to separate themselves from the defender and they can both go up and snatch the ball. Those are the top two things I want from an outside receiver. He seems to be the #1 priority for the staff at this point and why not open a pipeline at Aquinas? I haven't checked in a while but they used to be a powerhouse in Florida.

You could make that argument but I will always trust a coaching staff more than "recruiting experts"

Arrow, how dare you have a favorite receiver that the recruiting services deem inferior to other targets we are pursuing. Shame on you.

I generally agree, and our coaching staff is apparently extremely high on Corey.

Personally, this is how I rank recruits:

1) Are you big enough or fast/quick enough to play BCS-conference football?
2) Do you fit our system?
3) Did you wreck shop in high school?
4) Are you willing to work?
5) Do you love to play football?

I never question an offer if the kid meets these critera.

UCLA offered Austin Roberts, the wide receiver from Carmel, just the other day. Maybe they don't like where they stand with Holmes?

we had one going in the Weis years there....they have great coaches and produce a handful of div 1 caliber every year....they play on espn every year....certainly wouldn't hurt

except for that one year, where we struck out with Cody Riggs, Lamarcus Joyner, Brandon Linder and Gio Bernard (still brings a tear to my eye)

Yea in the paper here today Roberts said UCLA became a real dark horse for him after offering. Didn't even mention USC.

Two others also made a crystal ball prediction of Austin Roberts to UCLA. They are either just following Steve or UCLA is just likely to get him
