Though I really like Holmes I won't be heartbroken if we don't get him. I figure we take 3 more receivers and Luatua if he wants to come. My preferred receivers would be Quick, Izzy, and Lazard.

I would be upset just from the standpoint that it would mean their 1 visit > 5 visits to us.

Tony Alford disagrees with you. Regardless of my opinion on Holmes, which happens to be very high, the staff has invested a ton of time into him and he is reportedly #1 on our board. My heart would not break, but it would be sore for a few days. Plus, losing him to UCLA would sting.

I don't think he is #1 on our board at WR, that's Dupre or Quick.

I think he is #1 priority right now at WR.

I think that distinction was lost in translation somewhere

Has he done any interviews about the trip yet or are we just writing him off because the kid didn't want to leave family vacation in Cali?

Really? I thought there was discussion recently that he was #1 on our board. I don't remember which thread it was in but will take your word for it.

The time and energy expended in recruiting targets from upper tier programs like Thomas Aquinas, American Heritage, and Coppell Tx is never wasted. Notre Dame is in our house. It will pay dividends in unexpected ways.

I agree. I think we want to lock Holmes up ASAP to ensure proper WR depth going forward and allow us to chase high-tier WR targets for the rest of the cycle, without having to worry if we lose out. So locking Holmes up is a high priority right now, but that doesn't mean he's the best prospect on our board.

For instance, let's say Holmes decides to slow things down and make a signing-day commitment. If we have one spot left on signing day, would Holmes get it over Dupre and Quick? No, I don't think so.

I believe Izzy is a lock once admissions processes him. That realistically leaves just 2 spots. If Holmes jumps on board then it's only one spot remaining for Quick, Dupre and Lazard. I would not want to turn away any of those guys and certainly not two of them. Again I like Holmes a lot but not better than those other 3 guys.

If Izzy and Holmes both join the '14 class, I don't think the staff would turn away Dupre and Quick if somehow in the the torrents of recruiting, both decided to also climb in. But it would leave Lazard in a tough position.

May not be enough spots available. Do you turn away Elam, Holley, Watkins, Smith, Carter, Williams, Yeargin, Luatua? At some point you can't say so and so has a spot reserved. At some point you simply run out of room.

Sometimes those teasers can be a bit misleading. If he is committing anywhere soon, its to ND but what if the decision is on what officials he's going to take some or something like that.

“@MsAmyCampbell: WR Corey Holmes details #UCLA visit & talks upcoming decision #NotreDame #Gators #Sooners”

This would be a lot easier if someone had Scout haha

Expects to make decision in a few days, he really enjoyed himself out there, it was what he thought it would be. Travelled with his parents and sister, they have travelled with him a lot, they had good things and bad things to say about it, but everyone enjoyed themselves and liked the campus. He enjoyed meeting with Coach Yarber and the other coaches he was able to meet, basically just told him how they could use a guy from Florida with his explosiveness in their system. His family never looks at distance they just want him to go where he will have the best opportunity to play football, and the best opportunity after football. He was considering Florida and Oklahoma, but now says it will be either the Irish or the Bruins. When he gets home he will sit down and make the decision on his own, he really wants to decide for himself, and he will keep an open mind until he actually sits down and figures it out but it won't be long.

Gone way before his time.

He'll be back.... As ALLGATOR. At one point, he probably disliked me more than any poster.

But his last words to me were about finally getting along. I hope he comes back.
