FSU guys did say he was soft when he transferred. I thought it was just sour grapes.

That's what Gene Williams and Michael Langston told me a long time ago. The O-Line coach at FSU is notorious for being a b-hole. It got to Jordan, and he left. With that said, I think he toughened up at ND.

What ramble?

this one...

I will put my edit first: Read this as though I am making no comparison between AL and JP. I have no use for AL and plenty of respect for JP. This post is about some other things too, that have to do with neither, remember.

You all want someone to tell you something. Look with your own eyes. Read between the lines. Kelly sees it at hand. Now that the team has tipped in his direction, more players with a work ethic than a party demeanor, and now that he has the right assistants in the right place, expect the corner cobwebs and other hangers on to be removed.

In high school, my freshman and sophomore year the teams were huge and had more talented players than you could shake a stick at. When we were sophs, we had a stacked JV, many of us alternated between JV and varsity for games, but we practiced JV. We scrimaged the first team varsity and kicked their @sses! More than once. Those two teams were the only two varsity squades in like an eight year period that didn't play in the city championship game. For four years after I left. Then the next big team full of superstars missed. Go figure.

It's all about heart, and fire in your belly, at whatever level of competition you are talking.

A couple other guys made mention of it right after you posted it and it made me think of that scene in Billy Madison. Somehow GB translated that into me calling Prestwood soft, which I have no explanation for.

Either way, just messin' with ya homie.

Wooly, a chara,

You know you are one of my favorite guys. Everybody wants a reason, fill in the blank. That, as you know ain't the way the world works. I am so heartened by the response on this thread. I said, what I said, the way I said it on purpose. One reason I stated in the thread, there really are as many reasons as players. Another thing, and this is a pet peeve of mine with the woulda-coulda-shoulda gang, is that there is what, including IrishMoore81, and LAX about a half-dozen posters on this site that could deal with the rigors of going to a top-flite academic institution, and playing a major division one sport? I saw what you were doing, so you are not included in this. But many others, many time dog kids for not succeeding at something they never attempted. I am excited that we have good guys like you, GB, TP, NyMike and Micks60, who stand by these guys.

Sorry I couldn't say anymore but deduction wasn't hard for me with the couple things I heard. Maybe that is why the door isn't closed or the ship sailed, so to speak. But at any rate Jordan is a good guy deserving of all of our respect, and encouragement for whatever the future brings him! And anybody who believes anything FSU, OSU, USC, UM, UFLA people say deserves to look as foolish as they will to all of us. Tóg bog é

I am sorry... I was not aware that we knew one another so well...

Best of luck, Jordan. Whether on the team or not, I hope you can call back in a few years with an ND degree.

Prestwood is a good kid and a very harder worker. No need to question anything that has been questioned in this thread. But i am glad we have a nice OL class coming to help ease the losses of the OL in the last week.

Could you see him returning to the team down the road? Just very unfortunate timing for everyone involved with the beginning of school and the season fast approaching.

Sad to see him go. Really thought this would turn out to be a good news story.

So the magic number is now unofficially 23 (likely)/27 (possible) ?

Know nothing about the Prestwood situation so will not speculate.

As regards our current O-Line situation: we have actually played only 8 O-Linemen the last two years. This is not unusual, although some teams prefer to actually play two full lines. These eight usually mean the starters plus one tackle, one guard, and a back-up center. When times are really tough, you can get away with seven, with no injuries.

Our "eight" this year could be the starters plus Hegarty, Nichols and Golic. Ronnie Stanley would work with the twos [as Prestwood did last year] but still preserve eligibility. Stanley would then be in position to get ZMart's job if he goes pro. Hegarty would get Cave's, and hopefully Watt will stay. The "three" back-ups would be Hanratty, Harrell, and Nichols. The five newcomers could still preserve eligibility.

A permanent loss of Prestwood is very undesirable but not catastrophic. I thought that once he replaced Zach he'd become an All-American quality player. Now Ronnie Stanley will become that person instead.

I wont speculate either, but I will remember that JP committed as a recruit, then decommitted for FSU. He then came back, and now is now gone again. I wont speculate at all, I will just remember the facts.

Never good to lose depth but at the same time I can't get upset about someone that never suited up and played for Our Lady.

Once again bc some still dont get it..judging by the responses, Prestwood loved ND and ND loved him. Kid is tough and all 5 OL coming in next yr are going to redshirt so itd be pretty dumb of him to transfer bc he was scared of
Competition..please he wouldnt have gone to fsu/nd if he was scared of competition.

So we then can assume it's either personal or academic reasons? Hope he goes home for a little while does some soul searching and is back before we know it...

Bottom line is there are only two kinds of "personal reasons":

1. Personal reasons you cause/have control over.
2. Personal reasons you don't have control over.

Whether it's the former or the latter is all that really matters to most... the specifics and nuances are unimportant.

I know I said I wouldn't speculate but if it is something that BK can't talk about and with TP saying he loves ND and vice versa, one can speculate academics.

Any chance Tony Springmann goes to the OL? Good luck to Jordan, hope everything works out for the best. Very unfortunate that he will not be with the team.

No way spring man goes to O line. Nichols or Martin can play left tackle if something happens to nick. More worried about the quality depth after nix, tuitt, and kappy.

Agree with the Springmann staying on D comment. I'd be more moderate in my concern about D-Line depth. Kona, Hounshell, and Day present a formidable "second set". Big Jarron could also play. Changing up regularly to make The Prince and Ishaq D-Linemen maybe 50% of the time also mitigates against shallow depth. Barring a really unlucky set of injuries, both lines should be really good.
