he gushed over their pre-med program..top 10 in nation
ND has some truly awesome pre-med programs you can go through. Very high acceptance rate, very high level of preparation.
With that being said... the lack of a medical school AT Notre Dame is a pretty big detractor for the easy route of matriculation a student-athlete who doesn't have copious hours of free time to study and do MCAT prep might be looking for. Thanks, pointless Indiana state laws... almost up there with no alcohol Sundays.
True, don't want to lose sight of this.
I wasn't aware that this was the issue ... what are the laws that prevent us from having a med school? If this is straying off-topic, please PM. Just curious.
Is this the reason why ND is trying to build a med school in Chicago? I think I heard this on campus a couple of times. Just curious because I don't think it is the money factor anyways. There is an Indiana state law that prohibits all schools besides Indiana University from having a medical school. Pretty ****ing stupid.

I have to say, I was hanging out with a doctor friend who graduated from ND and didn't get into med school on his first try, and he said that if he had it to do over he might have gone to a Big Ten-type state school instead of ND. He was really jealous of his best friend from med school, who went to Michigan State, partied all the time, got a 4.0 and got into med school on his first try, and he feels like that could have been him. That's not to say that I don't think kids who pick state schools over ND based on the logic that if you want to go to med school, it doesn't matter what school you attend are making a mistake (what if you hit sophomore year and decide you don't want to go to med school after all? Or you $hit the bed in organic chemistry and can't get in? Mendoza is a nice backup plan), but at this point I'm willing to admit that the logic has some little bit of validity.
Would love to have gotten Nelson ... great fit for us on a couple different levels. But not worth dwelling on; other fish in the sea.
good luck to him he gonna be getting destroyed by ISU for 4 years

You know, Iowa is 0-2 against Iowa State the last two years and only about 50% against them over the last 10 years. Makes you wonder why Ferentz is getting that big paycheck.
You ***. You said you were sticking to Stanford.me and cali_domer were alone in picking Iowa![]()

You must be so proud going with Iowa at the last second along with Wiltfong and the vast majority of the crystal ball.

Don't worry, I'll change it back to Stanford for him.
No fair, I changed my mind when I found out Iowa had a good med school. I said I was sticking with Stanford 4 days before I changed my prediction. No deception involved here.
ND/Stanford battle. Just giving the hometown school a little love.
Actually I made my prediction on 6/25 at 12:20 PM, at lunch. The second person after Barton Simmons to pick Iowa was Todd Worley at 10:03 PM on 6/25, 10 hours after me. Wiltfong didn't even make a prediction.
I'm betting Iowa too. If he wants to play and stay local, he'll go to Iowa. He also wants to be a doctor (?) and Iowa is a good choice for med school.
