Sucks that Munster is so far away from Indy. Seems like Gumballhead has been a little rarer around here too but is always on tap all over. Making a regular pilgrimage to the brewpub is the solution for now, that place is awesome.

I remember reading a few years ago that 3F's does this on purpose. They know there is a huge demand for their beer, but they want to keep you hooked. Risky business strategy but has worked for quite a few craft breweries. I live in Northwest Indiana and have not been to the brewpub. Actually I have not tried many of 3F's.

My favorite which is hard to find around here is Sun King. I would love to try more of their beers but they only distribute Osiris, the cream ale, and one other around here.

If anyone ever wants to meet up for a beer at 3F's let me know! Also if you are in the area and want some good beer, head up to Sawyer, MI and go to Greenbush. You will not be disappointed.

We should get some kind of beer trade going. Shipping is expensive but it would be fun to try local/regional beers that some of us may never get to try. Or all meet up at a game this fall and share some local brews.

3F's is actually expanding distribution to Ohio but only on a limited basis. They state that the don't short supply on purpose but rather just can't make it fast enough. I don't know why they don't move to a bigger place if that is the case though.

Sun King has really taken off in the last year or two. Their only standard beers are the three you mentioned so that is all you will pretty much see up in your area. They have a ton of specialty and seasonal beers but those are mostly just available in draft. I think the cream ale sucks but all the others I have tried are really good.

Ya I think it was in that same article that they said they were moving into a bigger building in downtown Chicago maybe?? I wish I could find the article. I don't know if that ever happened or what the deal is.

Ya, I love the Osiris but the cream ale is so-so. I would love to try some of the seasonal beers. Ever had anything from Triton Brewing? I tried their Deadeye Stout in a bottle and was not a huge fan of it.

Agree with you guys on Sun King. Cream Ale was the first I tried, so it turned me off. After finally coming back around and trying Osiris, I was way more impressed.

I was a beer philistine during my 7 years in South Bend, so I missed countless opportunities to enjoy 3F. Zombie Dust, Gumballhead, Alpha King and Robert the Bruce have been on my "Want" list for a long time.

I'm on vacation this week, so I'm drinking a lot:

Sunday: Pub crawl in Baltimore with my AOH division. I had Jameson Gold, Powers, Harp, Kilkenney, and various ports & stouts whose names escape me.

Monday&Tuesday: The wife and I were in Atlantic City: Several bottles of red wine (good French Pinot Noir, Sicilian Nero D'Avola), Hendrick's martinis with dinner, Tullamore Dew 12. Then a handle of Tito's vodka when we got home for nightcaps. We'll see how long that lasts. My liver's getting a workout this week.

Golden,

Oobatz over at Keystone has $2 drafts on Wednesday nights, and they have three 3F on tap. Had my fill of Gumballhead for dirt cheap.

St Bernardus abt 12.

Also bought some big sky IPA. Anyone had it? Felt like an IPA or would have got moose drool.

I have never had the Big Sky IPA, let me know what you think of it after you open one.

I've had it, and it's really solid. I had it a few months ago, so I can't really remember it's full flavors, but it's not very fruity, but quite hoppy... IIRC. Quality stuff.

For me, last night was a bunch of O'Fallon 5 Day IPA. Pretty decent.

Chilling a bomber of Arctic Panzer Wolf as we speak for the game tonight. After that, it's back to Miller Lite.

I agree with Peoria on this. It's a good beer but not great. Hoppy but limited fruit tastes (I swear I'm tasting something in there, just not sure what it is...orange maybe?). Not going to crack my top 5/10 IPA's though.
