I think all the offers he has speaks louder than some of the ranking services. Getting him out of Fla may be hard but not impossible.
Offer list >>> recruiting services every single time.
exactly you have 4 major sites....247,scout, rivals, espn mostly none of these people who work for them have played a down of D1 football....I will always take a coaches opinion and in this case 40+ opinions
Some food for thought on Wilson...
-His rankings are all over the place. Very low on Scout/247, top 150 player on Rivals/ESPN.
-If fast enough he could play either CB or S for us... but he ran a 4.77 at a recent combine which is a bit troubling. The listed 4.45 is a total joke.
-Great reported offer list, but how many of them are actionable? If most offers are actionable then it is clear that most schools view him as a very versatile and effective piece for their defense... not dissimilar to the value of Yeargin which increases because he literally projects as being able to play 3 different positions.

but that clip at the 1:40 mark looks a lot closer to 4.45 than 4.77.
Two points. First, we could be skeptical of the 'commit ability' of almost every offer on every recruit unless we're close to that recruit, so I don't see the point in being skeptical unless we're skeptical of every offer a recruit lists. There's no way you or I or anyone else can determine his 40, but that clip at the 1:40 mark looks a lot closer to 4.45 than 4.77.
The reason rivals has him ranked so much higher than others is they have seen him at least twice in camp settings and he had no trouble staying with receivers during one on ones. If he's able to stay with WR's during one on ones then he's plenty fast for me.
I seen Dee Milliner clock a 4.69 once in high school at a college summer camp and come back the next day and clock a 4.42. Wilson is not that fast but I don't think speed will be a concern with him.
Sure we can... it's called an official time from a combine. And he has one. He will also run again at The Opening where we will get to compare/contrast his time to other prospects running under the same conditions.
Simply put, we have empirical data supporting the 4.77 and we have no information besides your opinion on watching highlights that he runs anywhere close to a 4.45 (which would be elite for a S at the NFL combine).
As for offer lists... yeah, I'm always skeptical and put more value in who I see recruiting him hard than the "list"... if you read Coby Fleener's article about how he got a football scholarship it stands to reason that one should put very little to no value in offer lists found on the internet and only focus on which big time schools are actively recruiting someone. In this case, I like the fact that Ohio State and other schools have clearly been showing interest, which is why I said what I said.
Gave his OSU visit a 8 out of 10 on twitter. Considering that they were his leader I'd say that that is a good sign.
Haha. You're welcome.
ND visit was a 8 too.
Haha. You're welcome.
I asked him.
