Does BGI still do a print version? I used to get way back in the day, and was thinking about getting it again. I know the web version is more up to date, but I don't want to bring my laptop to the john.

For those that have II, I thought the taking twenty piece today was good. Looking forward to more installments of that. It's kind of like a poor mans Tunnel Vision.

JC Shurburtt, National Recruiting Director for 247 sports, started a thread on the 247 message board today:

"There very likely will be a new No. 1 in the 2014 rankings.

Also a quarterback or two will drop from five to four stars.

There will be several new five stars.

After an event like The Opening, where you get to compare the top prospects side by side, there's bound to be a lot of movement."

He said the new rankings will come out next week and confirmed Hood will be ranked as a RB, not ATH.

I'd expect all four of our The Opening participants to get a bump with maybe the exception of Kizer.

Interesting development, Gerry Hamilton has left 247 sports even though he was offered multiple career options with 247 including Lead National Reporter, effectively above Wiltfong, Barton Simmons etc and below Shurburtt, but turned it down. He wanted to focus more on scouting and less on reporting and the guys at 247 don't know if he will pursue a job as a college staff member or another network.

“@sbterry247: In a few weeks, we will have a tool where you can create your own rankings in the same format as #247Sports.”

New No. 1. Hand did not drop out of the top 10.

Two new five stars from New York City, two from California, one from Ohio, one ftom Georgia, one from Arizona- total of 30 if I am not mistaken.

The three major states shake out with Texas having a handful more than California and Florida- those two have equal representation.
Some big drops and big rises. Some guys went from top 100 to out. Some moved more than 100 spots. This is one of about three major updates we do. It's the halfway point of the cycle. We've been to countless combines and camps, crunched the data, spoken with scouts and coaches and then got a chance to compare players side by side at The Opening, which is always helpful because it's a challenge in football to compare state to state and position by position.

We will release the new No. 1 and the list, followed by a breakdown of the risers. I will take all questions, comments, complaints and praise after we release the list.
Stay tuned.

“@Sheadixon: The new @247Sports rankings drop at 4 pm. Yes, there's a new No. 1 player in the country. Could be Leonard Fournette or Cam Robinson..”

STL did a great job updating each recruit's thread, but here's a summary of the new 247 rankings and how they effected ND commits:

Justin Brent (+2 to 96 rating) - Up 59 spots to #63 overall; #7 WR
Quenton Nelson (+6 to 96 rating) - Up 152 spots to #74 overall; #6 OT
Elijah Hood (+3 to 96 rating) - Up 55 spots to #76 overall; #7 RB
Andrew Trumbetti (+1 to 95 rating) - Down 5 spots to #117 overall; #8 SDE
DeShone Kizer (+3 to 94 rating) - Up 46 spots to #147 overall; #8 PRO QB
Alex Bars (+3 to 94 rating) - Up 21 spots to #171 overall; #15 OT
Jay Hayes (-1 to 92 rating) - Down 38 spots to #183 overall; #13 DT
Nic Weishar (no change in 91 rating) - Up 1 spot to #211 overall; #6 TE

Sam Mustipher, Greer Martini, Jimmy Byrne, Grant Blankenship, Jonathan Bonner and Tyler Newsome were not updated today as they only updated the Top 247. They should be updated soon according to 247.

Dante Booker moved up to #16 overall, that's impressive. So bummed we missed on him.

With the exception of Hood and Blankenship (maybe Bars too), I like where 247 has our commits right now.

Hood is a 96 I'd have him as a 98. Blankenship is a 87 I'd have him as a 92

In case anyone was wondering, my dude Raymond was one of the biggest risers in the new rankings. He was a 85 Rating, now is a 94 #13 CB. I know Lax agreed with me he was insanely underrated, I guess 247 agreed.

I saw his jump and was going to comment on it, but then I figured this post was coming and thought it would be more fun to make a bet with myself. Guess what? I won!

TV from this week:
-Tranquill is still up in the air... likes that Jaylon got the starting nod... would have committed to ND if we offered earlier. Sources in Ft. Wayne say he's faster than Jaylon and could be a big time ILB if he develops the right way.
-They expect McKenzie to commit in October... we'll see what happens, lots of cross talk here.
-They think we still lead for Watkins and we are in Hendrix's top 3 with Arkansas and Stanford. Sounds like we could land both guys with a good visit for USC game.
-Sounds like Stanford leads for Solomon Thomas.
-Lots of info on 2015 guys.... too much to list. Maybe someone can grab it and put it in their profiles.
