I do not care for high school kids with facial hair. Especially the really over-designed goatees and beards. Not my cup of tea, and usually not my kind of dude.

So what is your type of dude? You a Channing Tatum guy? Ryan Gosling? Brittney Griner?

interesting how he's coming for camp...that's what makes me think he doesn't have a commitable offer

There's more than camp going on that weekend. Camp is an oppritunity to visit and work with the coaches. If only ppl with non committable offers were attending that would imply Andrew Williams, Trevion Thompson, Corey Holmes, Darius West and some other big names that haven't been confirmed would all hold non committable offers.

Older interview...talks about VT, FSU, Georgia, Bama and ND. Never mentions academics. I don't know. I'd prefer Kizer.

Top 4 per his father is Notre Dame, Georgia, Alabama, & Virginia Tech. He does not hold an offer from Georgia but is camping soon. His offer to Alabama is not commitable (almost none of their QB offers are) but he camped there today and is supposed to know by the 15th where he stands.

So if Bama and Georgia don't offer and things don't work out with Kizer or he hasn't made a decision by Park's visit (they both will be at Elite 11 btw...awkward) then it will be Notre Dame vs Virginia Tech with a BIG visit on 6/22 with his parents.

I prefer Park because he is an absolute gun slinger of a QB and mobile enough, maybe I just miss ND slinging it down field frequently. I would be ecstatic if we could swing both.

Ha Griner. I shouldn't have said it like that. People that look like they spend a lot of time designing their beards look like they are trying too hard to me, and if there is one thing I am not into it is trying. Personally, I rock a more or less permanent 5'o-clock shadow because shaving sucks, and it must look like I do it on purpose or something because I seem to get away with it at the office. Thank you for asking.

I understand the numbers game and how we may have a good chance in a head-to-head battle with Va Tech, but my preference has little to do with physical skills (both QBs look great). Check out his twitter @JacobPark10, specifically this little exchange on Feb 21 (I can't embed for some reason):

@JacobPark10 you're gonna fail the next test.

Again, I haven't heard him mention academics and given our most recent situation with a QB from South Carolina, this is concerning.

I feel like we have a much better chance of being able to keep Kizer if he commits than Park. I like Park more but I think you have to take both.

Yes high school kids and college kids cheat on tests including ND players and recruits, it's a fact of life. If you think DeShone Kizer has never cheated then you're a little to innocent.

Not directed just at you but snooping months back into a recruits twitter has become way to common practice for posters here on IE (ex Noah Brown). It's kinda creepy and just unnecessary. If the staff is offering these kids I'm sure they did their due diligence.

BTW Kizer said ND exceeded his criteria for academics aka academics aren't a big focus for him either. Distance is the biggest thing ND as going for them.

Well, what happens when ND players get caught cheating on tests? Academics are a HUGE part of the equation for STUDENT-athletes at ND and, based on the very little I know about this kid, I'm already concerned.

Ouch. FWIW, Park doesn't tweet much so Feb 21 isn't that far back in his twitter. I scrolled down once and BOOM, your golden boy is having a conversation about cheating for the world to see.

And, I like to check twitter (not snoop) and watch interviews because I like to see how a potential recruit projects himself to the world. I learn just as much from that info as I do from watching highlights.

Re: the bolded sentence, I have the utmost faith in the staff. I hope I'm wrong.

Watch the interview I posted with Kizer and then watch the one I posted with Park. If you can't tell the difference then "you're a little too innocent".

I went back and watched both interviews and I definitely agree in the noted difference in the way each of them carried themselves in those interviews. Granted, public speaking is not the end all to be all, but a glimpse of one's personality tends to show through in those situations, and I like Kizer's too. If you are looking for an "ND man", Kizer appears to be one moreso than Park.

Well, this is interesting.

Cheating does happen all the time, and IMO there are different levels of cheating.

I would copy a homework assignment or two in my day. Never cheated on tests or papers. Cheating still, absolutely. Did I make sure I still knew the material on my own, you better believe it.

Then there is cheating on everything and learning nothing.

Also, if you are cheating, why in the hell are you just putting it on twitter.

Maybe not at his school but I know for a fact the high school and college I attended monitor/ed (when I was in hs facebook was still for college students only but know they monitor it now) social media.

It seems this should be one of those red flags. A kid who can't even keep from telling the world he is cheating is going to get caught cheating.

I can agree with most everything you've stated, but DeShone Kizer's name should have been left out of your comments. Many high school students cheat, but not all. There are still many students who have been taught to value honesty and integrity. In the absence of any evidence to the contrary, we should not be suggesting that one of our potential recruits has cheated. The character of a young man should not be questioned until he has done something to warrant those questions.

Yeah, but has been stated, it's one thing to cheat, and quite another to announce it to the world. That's just not very bright.

And not everyone cheats, and not all ND athletes cheat. They're not all Albert Einsteins, but there are some bright dudes on the team, as well as dudes with strong morals. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to hear that Dayne Crist never cheated, or Jarrett Grace, or Steve Elmer. I (regrettably) cheated in h.s., but my wife never cheated a day in her life. There are still honest people out there, ND athletes and recruits included.

If the staff is offering these kids I'm sure they did their due diligence.

This is the same staff who recruited Tee Shepard (weird, weird, dude), Deontay Greenberry (not a good dude, rough background), Justin Ferguson (pothead), Aaron Lynch (pothead, hit girls on campus, lazy, etc) and others. I'm sire they did their due diligence on those guys but still took them anyways. Sometimes the talent is so tantalizing that they take risks on kids. Or sometimes they just make mistakes. These coaches (I'm HUGE fans of the staff) are humans and make mistakes.

So just because they are recruiting these kids, doesn't mean the kids are great kids.

Having said that, I know nothing about this recruit and hope that he does well wherever he goes.

At first I just didn't like his look and was mad at myself for stereotyping. Then you post this... and I'm not even most perturbed that he cheated... that's not the end of the world....

The fact that he was dumb enough to talk about it on Twitter and doing it again and hasn't deleted those tweets is a gigantic red flag to me when it comes to character/decision making. Overly harsh? Maybe... low character guys like Ben Rapistberger succeed all the time in the NFL... but if I'm the ND staff and I see that exchange I don't know if I keep recruiting him.

Since multiple ppl responded I'm just going to point out, does Kizer sound like a better kid than Park? Yes, no denying that. But just because of some dumb *** tweets and an interview doesn't mean he's not worth recruiting. We all loved Kyle Allen right? Seemed like a perfect fit but when it came down to it obviously his criteria for picking a school was not what he had been saying before in interviews etc. Bottomline I just think its too harsh to judge any recruit by a couple tweets and an interview

Park can throw the ball and i read someone thought he lacked arm strength...i def didn't see any issues w/ this in the tape...he had a rocket....watching his highlights were awesome!!! kizer's looked less than desirable for a D1 qb...it reminded me of denard's throwing

That wasn't my main point at all (although again, the fact that he's tweeting that he cheats shows a severe lack of judgement at that time). My point was about you saying that if the coaches are recruiting him, then he has good character (or something to that effect). That's simply not true...look at the names I brought up. The coaches are human and they've made some bad judgements on kids. It happens.

I don't know why, but I instantly thought of this when I saw the kid's picture.

I never said he had good character, there are players on the team that will go 4 years through ND without good character and never be a problem. I just thinks its harsh to say he has bad character like many are implying.

all right dude (im addressing your unedited post where u said I was wrong not the one im quoting). Ive read multiple interviews with Kizer and academics aren't his focus point. Its like a cherry on top for him. nothing wrong with that, not every kid chooses ND because of academics

Plays top notch level of football in South Carolina. Stratford is a good program and one of the biggest schools in the state. I am really surprised no offer from USC. If I can I will make it to some of his games this year.

A lot of upside for Park. Can't imagine why Spurrier hasn't been hard on him since he lost out on Barker. Anyway, I think Park would be a good get for the Irish.
