Idk if there is a rule for tampering if the recruit calls first probably because IT NEVER ****IN HAPPENS. Ugh this is why you don't wait till signing day to choose to. You have time to think about your decision if commit earlier.

I'm not sure. But it sounds like there was some contact with UCLA. EV might have initiated it and UCLA got in his head even more. Sampson said that recruiting battles with UCLA will get heated from now on.

It sounds like UCLA is the sleazy guy that tells a girl how bad her boyfriend is just so he get weaken her enough to get her in bed.

I hope the real story comes out. I never had a problem with UCLA, but if this is true, people need to know. I hope someone outs them publicly.

I worry about UCLA for one reason: Recruiting. Just because USC is "down" by their standards, doesn't mean ND has free range of Cali now. UCLA seems to be benefiting the most from it. ND needs both of those SoCal teams to suck year in and year out. Eddie going to UCLA to help build a better team is comparable to why we all don't want Hand and Peppers at Michigan. Sure we play UM a couple more times, but the main reason is to not let them build a dynasty that starts stealing ND's recruits.

EV should only be allowed to go to Cal. That's just me. Would've LOVED to have this kid at ND, but good riddance if he's gonna be like this. This UCLA tampering thing is just mind blowing.

I ask for you all to forgive me for not reading all the posts in this thread, but seriously most of the ones I did read are just too much like the e-mails I used to get from my ex that I couldn't read anymore of that shyte.

I have tried to find anything of substance related to EV asking for his release and have found nothing. That Sacramento newspaper article that seems to be the chief resource for all of the other stories has nothing to back it up. I think it is pure conjecture.

As far as I know EV has not announced anything BK has not announced anything and guys with no evidence have announced that he "may" ask for a release.

Does anybody have any actual evidence or is it all just third hand rumors?

Let me remind you that during the first couple days after that hatchet job article on Manti condemned him for fabricating the girlfriend, everyone assumed that the rumor was true.

Honestly, I totally understand the anger overflowing on this thread. My head tells me that the program has gotten to a point where the trajectory of the team is not dependent on any one player, and last year provides some evidence for this argument. But there's also the stinging realization that taking the next step depends on the ability to plug in ultra-talented players into holes vacated by other ultra-talented players. The team will be able to get by, without a doubt. But this team can't get to where we all want it to be with these types of departures. I've been in a foul mood all day, I understand completely why others are lashing out as well.

If this is the case, and there's really no academic or bureaucratic issue on our end, it's hard to see ND letting him out of his LOI. And Eddie would have to be either really pissed or really stupid (and perhaps both) to blow his freshman year of college football over this. And if we get him on campus for a season, I'd think the odds are significant that he sticks.
In other words, there is always hope.
