Irish could be the team to beat and landing him could help with Allen per Wiltfong. Probably already common knowledge.

OU leads per 247

I just read that article by Hopkins. Not buying what he's selling for either Andrews or Luatua.

First, for Luatua, I do not see how this could possibly be the "final straw" when Wiltfong said merely 3 days ago he could already be committed to ND were it not for his parents wanting him to take visits. How could Talamaivao possibly have that big on an impact much less be the "final straw" which would mean he was leaning strongly to Alabama? And Damien Mama is a darn near USC lock... but Hopkins implies that he could be headed to Bama also with Luatua... I'm just not buying this clean sweep thing right now. Maybe later in the cycle I could totally see it, but right now no way. Seems like Hopkins is really stretching based on nothing to make a story of a 'Bama California sweep.

For Andrews, it says "The latest suggest Oklahoma might be making a move"... if that isn't a total nothing statement, I don't know what is. No mention of ND at all, despite crystal ball putting ND even with Oklahoma and him raving about the visit. Barely mentions Arizona even though they were presumed early favorite at one point and current crystal ball leader (largely due to no updates in weeks).

For Kyle Allen, I kinda understand where he's coming from... smart money is UCLA, lists ND as the "dark horse"... but at the same time, really downplays OSU who was his presumed offer he was really looking for? While acknowledging the intended visit?

Just seemed like a really crappy article with speculation I could get from Bleacher Report.

Not really worried if OU leads now anyways. Andrews isn't deciding soon. Allen visit can only help us.

It's going to be interesting because OU was his childhood favorite, Texas A&M has Kyle Allen, and ND is the best fit for him as a player. Had we landed Kyle Allen I'm 99% sure we would've also got Andrews. Now I'm pretty darn sure he heads somewhere else. Which is such a bummer.

Sounds like we are still in the hunt. He had good things to say about ND ... but same was true of OU and TAMU. I guess we'll see what happens.

One side note: What role do people think a kid's high school team colors/uniforms/mascot seem to play in their college decision? Sometimes when I see kids like Dayne Crist (NDHS in Sherman Oaks, played high school football in uniforms identical to NDs) or Kizer (Central Catholic Fighthing Irish, fat shamrock on the helmet) I wonder if their strong interest in ND doesn't have something to do with a sort of subconscious impact left by wearing an ND uniform or playing for the "Fighting Irish" for four years.

Why do I bring this up here? Because Andrews went to Desert Mountain in AZ, and their uniforms look a bit like OU's or TAMU's ...

imo it's only a bummer losing him if we miss out on luatua
It will be a bummer regardless, I like Luatua a lot but IMO if Andrews was listed as a TE rather than WR he would be #1 with a good size gap between him and Luatua & Schultz.

Andrews IMO is an awesome mix of Rudolph and Eifert making him a very unique Flex TE whereas Luatua at least to me seems more like an old school H-back.

I feel like it would have more to do with the school either having an Irish/Catholic area influencing the high school and having a big pro-ND demographic than a player association with the jersey.
