Yeah, I guess it's possible that nobody is to "blame," but something clearly happened. The timing is certainly odd. Would love to know what it is.

It may simply be a kid getting cold feet about leaving home as June gets closer.

I haven't heard anything, but it certainly seems like it would have to be more complicated than just cold feet. Reading between the lines, it seems like he's upset.

Is there anything behind the UCLA rumors? EV said he was planning on going to Alabama until the night before NSD, essentially saying UCLA was his 3rd choice.

Dan Murphy of BGI just posted that he's hearing that ND doesn't feel good about the chances of EV ending up on campus in June -- and that's all he's heard. Not much clarity at all.

IMO Eddie is the most important player in the 2013 class. We have Councell at DOG and will be fine there even without Jaylon, but you can't afford to lose a top 10 player after you are probably going to lose Tuitt and Nix after this year.

I feel it in my bones that Mora has had impermissible contact after NSD. No direct info, just reading the order of events. He can't be getting set for UCLA unless he has been talking to people over there.

I have never wanted to play, work, employ...etc to someone who wasn't "all in"

Guess i demand too much

I think there's room for you both to be right, but I'll stay out of it. I think Redbar had the best response of the night. Eddie is Irish until he isn't. Family can have doubts. I hope if he's reading this he knows that the level of support will be tremendous here at Notre Dame. When I was a student, I had challenges to overcome, and between friends, professors, administrators, I could always count on that network (professional and peer-to-peer) to help point me in the right direction, because in a sense, we were all on a similar path. There are always moments in life when you have to make a difficult choice, and choosing the University of Notre Dame, living the life of an ND student, and graduating with way more than just a degree was one of the best choices I've made in my life. And I experienced doubt. It only made me a stronger person to face that doubt, and embrace the challenge. This is a story that many share, and you've already made that first step, Eddie. Finish what you started, brother. You won't regret it.

Absolutely. EV > Jaylon IMO. We need them both.

So would Kelly comment on this? I assume he can because hes already signed his LOI

He probably could, but given past practice regarding transfers, I'd think he'll be unlikely to say much that sheds significant light on the situation.
Certainly not before it's resolved, which at the moment it doesn't really seem to be.

I feel a little bit better with Jaylon on board. I imagine that the recruits will talk to him... and it's great to have a leader like Jaylon on the case. That, and he signed his LOI. Could still be a phase.

If not, it sucks but we'll move on. Just like we did with Lynch. It's interesting that right now we're all freaking out but the day before NSD there wasn't much talk about the huge hole we'd have w/o a nose guard. It's obviously important... but again... we'll survive.

@TJamesNDI: Brother of Placer HC. MT @smontoyamp: I have heard from sources that frustrations on both sides is what hold up is around Eddie Vanderdoes.

Both sides? Reps for a realistic frustration that ND could have which would hold up Eddie. Reps for creative suggestions too

I wish I could say we will be fine, but losing Vanderdoes hurts. The nose tackle is crucial in ND's defense, and Eddie was the only commit at this position since the 2010 class. Unless Kelly can somehow convince Nix to come back for his 5th year, our defense is going to have serious problems in 2014 and beyond.
