I thought the quote said that we just weren't coming after him as hard - not that ND had cut off contact.

I think the exact quote was something like "I haven't really talked to them much at all lately" when prompted by the reporter on where things stood with ND after talking about the other schools.

Direct quote from Steve Wiltfong

ND did not drop Peppers. He is what the Irish look for in a student-athlete.

Can we stop questioning his character now?

Who questioned his character??? The kid is looking at Stanford... and more importantly, Stanford is looking at him.

EDIT: NVM went back and read last page. Wow. And yeah, just did some digging around on the sites and there seems to be a lot of conflicting cross-talk out there.

By no means do I know this kids character but it would do Wiltfong good to say what he did as his job is to gain these kids trust for information.

Wouldn't be a good business decision to come out and say kid is a P.O.S. or whatever the case may be.

People just need to stop assuming we aren't recruiting him because we are. He just loves Stanford and Michigan. I respect the kid so much because he dropped Urban's bullshit and wants to do something with his life after football. Not saying he can't do that at ND he just likes Stanford and Michigan more.

word over at 247 is Peppers' OL teammate Juwann Bushell-Beatty is close to making his decision and that Michigan is in great shape there.

I don't think that will seal the deal for Peppers to Michigan, but it certainly can't hurt and I remember his coach saying something about Peppers being a pretty loyal guy and not liking the fact that Ohio State had yet to offer JBB.

Honestly if it's between Michigan and Stanford... make it Michigan. I heard a rumor Michigan wants no return trip to ND in '14 and this could be the last year... obviously, ND needing to drop another game likely wouldn't mind.

wouldn't surprise me if ann arbor pulls out of the 14 game, especially since it would be away

I personally believe this recruitment won't be over anytime soon.

Rarely are top 5 guys recruitment over with before the summer let alone the fall and winter.

We will get a shot at him

I think Notre Dame will end up leading this race, once Peppers visits. People tend to forget that. He's yet to visit South Bend. And based on what he wants out of a college, ND has by far the most to offer Peppers. They have the highest graduation rate for student athletes, or Black student athletes to be more specific. They have one of the most prestigious degrees to offer an FBS athlete. And come on guys, did we forget who's recruiting him?

Okay, someone fill me in. Why is ND not even registering any interest in Peppers on 247?

We are in his top 5. Michigan and Stanford are recruiting im way harder than we are

We should be leading this one by a country mile.

That assumption is never the case for any prospect.

A Notre Dame degree is by far one of the best degrees you can receive in the FBS.

Michigan and Stanford degrees are pretty darn good too.

It's rare, but it happens, and every recruits situation is a very different and specific situation.

Witflong over at 247 posted after the LSU visit that Jabrill had a nice time on the LSU and Ohio State visits but he's dropped them and it's down to Michigan and Stanford. Witflong also said that Peppers is taking a summer visit to Stanford and that if he likes what he sees and Stanford stacks up to Michigan he'll schedule officials to Michigan and Stanford in the fall (the Michigan official is already scheduled), but if Stanford doesn't stack up to what he saw at Michigan that Peppers will be a Wolverine before the fall. Witflong's exact words, and he's more plugged in than anybody.

Recruiting is fluid and things can change, but Peppers took 3 visits and dropped 2 of the schools he visited. He seems pretty serious about narrowing things down and making a decision.

Seems to me that he might enjoy the larger campus that Michigan offers. I'm basing this on the personality I've seen from some of his videos.

Paramus (N.J.) Catholic cornerback Jabrill Peppers, No. 2 in the ESPN 150, will visit Stanford in July. Following that trip, he will have his future program in mind.

“Definitely after I visit Stanford I should have it pretty clear where I want to go,” Peppers said.

NO mention of ND...Glowing reviews of UM

I guess. If he chooses UM, then that is a two-fold victory for ND:

1) Keeps him away from a rival we face every year (Stanford)

2) Keeps his talent out of the south

Could be worse.

One of the main concerns he has had about Michigan is the rumor that Hoke would end up in the pros. I think its pretty laughable but misinformation gets thrown around all the time. If that is a concern for him then imagine his concern over BK going somewhere - or Diaco for that matter. I think he has legit interest early on but we just fell out of favor with surrounding uncertainty.

If Lane Kiffin can coach in the pros, anything is possible.
