Christian at ISD has a source who, if I'm reading it right, thinks Quentin might pull the trigger for ND sooner rather than later.

My Michigan buddy has been bragging about their Oline class from this year and last but if we add Nelson I would put ours right there with scUMs

I don't think I am being bias when I say that I think our Oline haul was better last year. I think Elmer is the best tackle prospect out of the the two classes and then for the interior i like montelus a lot.

If u count Nelson, Hiestand (w/ the help of the regional recruiters, ex Booker for Mustipher) will have had secured 8 4:s: OL in 15 months. That's crazy good. Players and recruits love this guy

Good point, it seems every recruit mentions him as having a very significant impact on their recruitment

And Tennessee fans were so happy when he left...

People flipped out. The thought was, the Bears and Vols would have been good--regardless of the personnel and HC--if HH was a good OL coach.

I doubt it now, but I did wonder at the time if he fan hysteria played into the Decker flip... At least made it much easier.

abit off topic but does anybody know what Olin Kreutz is up to now? Would love to see HH get him in the ND fold somehow as a grad assistant or something.

Good question! I have heard some say Decker wanted to flip from the time he committed, because of huge family pressure. Also, I think he developed a relationship with the two coaches that jumped ship, Hinton and Warriner. But there certainly weren't many positives with ND's position coach at the time, were there?

I think NDs line is better but UM's haul was pretty good.

I would also give the advantage to ND if you put NDs haul at DL vs their OL and their DL against NDs OL.

Kelly didn't have great success recruiting OL in his first few years, but last years haul and what this one should be will be on Bama's level.

The offer list's of the OL from this year and last is much, much more elite than prior years.

Which directly correlates to the hiring of Coach HH!

True, but it's also no coincidence that we went 12-0 and played in the NC game had major success at almost every position, including OL.

Are you saying that we might have had decommitments like Decker? They signed on pretty early in the process with Kelly's 16-10 record.

It seems like all the kids really like HH. I hear about him more than any other coach save Diaco and Alford, although I think that is more typical for OLine.

Just think:

Nelson: #9 OT :s::s::s::s: .9469
Mustipher: #7 OG :s::s::s::s: .9424
Bryne: #13 OG :s::s::s::s: .9201

That would be a very solid start to the OL class and allow Kelly to play the long game with Smith.

Smith: #1 OG :s::s::s::s::s: .9906

To compare to last year's dynamite haul:

Bivin: #9 OT :s::s::s::s: .9531
Elmer: #10 OT :s::s::s::s: .9466
Montelus: #8 OG :s::s::s::s: .9330
McGlinchey: #11 OT :s::s::s::s: .9280
McGovern: #13 OT:s::s::s::s: .9188

To summarize: DO WANT DO WANT DO WANT

Like within the next week or later today?

Didn't specify.

Worthy of note: TJ on II compared him to Zach Martin in terms of size and technique. Staff likes him at OT, but could swing inside (like Martin).

I would say hiring HH is paying off for us.
