I've gotta say, you said a couple of incredibly stupid remarks.
1. You hate Tiger for his actions on the course, yet love Sergio, even though he has a worse temper(ie. spitting in the hole a couple years ago during a tourney.)
2. Tiger IS good for golf. Go look at the number of golfers, especially young ones, who took up the game of Golf after watching Tiger start. Not to mention how it has helped spread it even more across the Globe. Without Tiger, you probably wouldn't have the chance to see Tianlang Guan become the youngest Masters participant ever.
3. Plenty of people care about the betterment of Golf. Those who truly care about the sport do.

I didn't do a good enough job of explaining my points. For starters, of course Tiger is better for golf. There is NO denying that. He brings in huge bucks and viewership numbers. What I am saying is why should any fan care? You are happy when the rich white guys who run the PGA get richer?
Also, I never said I love Sergio. I was simply saying that out of the guys on the top of the leaderboard I would prefer him to win. I prefer Phil and Rory personally. I also like Louis Oosthuizen (sp?).
Finally, I love golf. I would play 18 holes everyday if I could. However, I really care less if pro golf gets more or less popular. It wouldn't change my opinion of the sport one bit, just like it wouldn't for 99.9% of the fans out there.

I gotta disagree with you here. IMO, we may not even have Rickie, Rory, or any other young guns if it weren't for Tiger. Ask any of them - growing up, they wanted to be like him (on the course). He has single-handedly served to expand the game of golf to tons of different countries throughout the world.

Couple of my buddies hate Tiger. I mean absolutely hate him. I get what you are saying. He is not the coolest dude on tour for sure. But I know, for me, I'm watching golf on Sunday, all day every day, if Tiger is in it. If not, I'll watch casually but not plan my day around it. I'm playing golf video games because it's Tiger Woods game. I care if he plays well because I'm a fan. But for many, he's the reason they picked up a club.

Fair point. I guess I'm more of a casual pro fan I guess. I watch a couple non-major Subdays a year because I like to watch my favorite golfers. I really can't watch the first three days at all. I dot find it as interesting. I do like Sundays though whether Tiger is in it or not. However, there does have to be a big name in it for me to watch.

My argument to the Tiger love would be last years Sunday at Augusta. Louis and Bubba going at it hole for hole. I defy anyone to name better golf in the past 5 years. It was incredible and it was all without Tiger.

I had the Masters playing on mute in the classroom yesterday just to glance over while the students worked. Every single student who came in at the start of the class asked, "How's Tiger doing?! Is that him?!" Tiger IS golf to a lot of people. Many golfers did pick up the sport because of Tiger. Many golfers decided to get better because of Tiger.

Rickie could have become a dirt bike driver, but he chose golf due to Tiger. Before him golf was seen as stuffy, old rich men, snobby, and elitest. Does that still remain? Sure a little, but now we have these young golfers who are so personable have their own Youtube channels, and seem like normal guys (Best example is the Golf Boyz). That draws more people to try it.

Tiger has human failings, as do we all. And ALL of his seem to be magnified because of his celebrity. I dare so many of the posters here at IE have done a few things which, if known, would be humiliating to them. Now, how about have that plastered all over the news, internet, talk shows, etc... Have the entire WORLD seem to be bashing you for your shortcomings. Would you handle matters as well as he seems to have done? Would you have the intestinal fortitude to pull yourself up from the ashes and then rise back to the top of your profession? Tiger's rise back to the top is really an amazing feat when you consider what he has gone through - which he himself foolishly caused. I hope he has learned his lessons, and changed a lot of his bad habits. But there is no doubt that every golfer out there appreciates Tiger playing. He draws the crowds, and sponsors pay more money when he is playing well, and that means larger purses for the players. All those playing right now owe Tiger a Thank You for their hefty bank accounts. Their skill might be making them winners on the course, but Tiger is the one who is making them wealthy.

Tiger and Rocco in 2008 at the US Open

That was extremely exciting but a little flawed in my opinion. The 08 US Open was incredible and great to watch but even though Tiger played great, he benefitted from Rocco's choking. Not to take anything away from Tiger, he still played great and deserved to win. However he wouldn't have been able to if Rocco didn't collapse.

Last year's Masters was Bubba and Louis playin at their best and one upping each other. Sure both guys missed putts and had bad shots, but Louis didn't choke at all. He just got beat.

Sure Rocco collapsed, but they played 18 extra holes the next day and that wasn't even enough to settle it. Tiger played with a broken leg.

Have you ever tried to play golf on one leg? Rocco benefitted more from Tiger having one leg than Tiger did Rocco choking.

Sergio usually plays well in Majors until Sunday and then he has issues. But the course is playing tough on everyone today. I think this bodes well for Tiger. When everyone else seems to struggle, he usually finds a way to hold it together. If he shoots another 70, I expect he will be on the front page of the leaderboards heading into Saturday.

Was the second pick. For Mahan to still be available after 20'ish picks was a steal for me.

Woneone said:
You double their score. (If they miss the cut).

It's really not as bad as it sounds as long as you only have one guy miss the cut. You can still be in it if 2 of your guys are in contention. Nearly everyone has a guy that doesn't make it.

Thanks for making me a liar Hunter.

If I'm the leader, and I'm at 6-under...on the 18th green...I'm shanking my putt for birdie so the kid can make the cut...this is that b*llshit...If N. Korea decides to act, and China puts the blinders on and doesn't check them beforehand, blame Augusta!

They said earlier the whole group was warned for slow play. If you want to play with the big boys you better be ready and know the rules.

They gave a few extra warnings to the young 14 year old. But you have to play by the rules. It's OK. He'll be around a long time.

Lol. Really guys. Have you ever seen Jim Furyk play how about Kevin Na. This was nothing more than a power trip by the 400 pound rules official. Just disgusting, luckily it looks as if he will make the cut.

HATER ALERT

Jesus man this is GOLF. The entire last damn day is testing out who has the stones to win it. Tiger was better than the rest of the field on a broken leg. SMDH.

I seriously think Augusta was thinking: Hey, we can't let some 8th grader come to the Masters and show everyone that anyone can make the cut.

Tiger just got jobbed at 15. Hit the flag stick with his second and it rolled into the water. He would have been staring at eagle from about 5 feet, instead, he's putting for bogey.
