“@dkurtenbach: “Everything Miami offered, Notre Dame offered. I just couldn’t be that far away from my family and my girlfriend.” — Kc McDermott.”

I think this is the key. We have a hard enough time pulling these kids out of sunny climes and away from their families even with the parents in our corner. Dad was against us from the get go, so we never really had a chance.

I'd like to think their academic bluster about Miami is mostly a post-hoc justification. Randy McDermott had already made up his mind.

“@jeffgreer: McDermott committed to Al Golden at practice last week and "Golden went nuts," McDermott's dad said. #canes”

Probably how it got leaked

This one was a done deal before it started. Not a good fit from the getgo from lots I have heard. And I do not disparage KC, family, convictU, Al Golden or anybody in that. Okay I disparage convictU every chance I get. (PSST! The other Miami is a better school, and it is in the MAC!)

If you're not changing your decision then how is not over? Lol

I think we'd all save a few valuable hours of life if we let this thread die unless something substantial changes down the road. He's going to Miami unless something changes.

I'm just starting to accept that stud recruits going to ACC schools has a real impact on ND now.

Exactly. Unless I'm reading it wrong, that statement contradicts itself.

I'm just starting to accept that stud recruits going to ACC schools has a real impact on ND now.

Define "real impact". We'll likely only face McDermott once in the next five years. That pales in comparison to a stud recruit committing to a school we play every year, like USC or Stanford.

Greer clarified. K.C. meant that he doesn't expect ND to stop recruiting him, but it won't change his mind.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Guys, Kc meant Notre Dame won't give up recruiting him. And his response to that was, I'm not changing my decision and nothing can change it</p>— Jeff Greer (@jeffgreer) <a href="https://twitter.com/jeffgreer/status/319190421370724352">April 2, 2013</a></blockquote>
<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

But still ... if it was really over, wouldn't he just tell ND not to bother? Leaving the door open?

More of what we always could've guessed from the 'razor thin' BS. Quite sad. Good luck to him at Miami.

I'm starting to really wonder how much the Manti Te'o thing hurt our impression among parents. Strikingly large amount of recruits so far that seem to have parents who are leaning against ND versus previous years.

Heard that ND was offering him #19.

I can't speak about being a recruit's parent; but as a fan I would much rather prefer our players have virtual girlfriends than fertile ones.

Yes but Miami will have a very good class in my opinion and that is something that hasn't mattered to Notre Dame in two decades. There are now 14 schools that can rise up and end up being a tough game. It's just expressing that reality has changed. A top-10 North Carolina never bothered me, now it can.

Question posed to KC about turning down Urban Meyer:
More like the state of shock where the guy has literally never been told no in his life. It literally looked like a kid the first time you tell him 'no, you can't do something.' It looked like he was a baby about to cry. It was so funny.

We need him on our team more than ever.

Hood flushing Bama letters and McDermott calling Meyer a baby.

Recruiting is amazing
