Such players are the exception that proves the rule. The recruiting services are right far more often than they're wrong. Now that 247 publishes a Composite ranking, they're more reliable than ever.

And why are you getting so defensive about recruiting rankings? For the 2013 class, UM ranked 5th (to OSU's 2nd), and in 2012, they ranked 9th (to OSU's 7th). You've got nothing to worry about on that front. If Hoke is the coach you guys think he is, you'll win your fair share of B1G titles; though you can't really blame neutral observers for betting on Meyer to dominate such a weak conference.

We've been playing such teams in November for several years now because our good friends in the B1G refuse to play us later than September (which has created serious scheduling problems for us). With the rotating ACC schedule that's currently in place, we get to keep all our true rivalry games and strengthen our late season schedule as well. Win/ win for us.

See the link above. I trust you can appreciate the importance of sample sizes in statistics. Obviously a 4 rating isn't a guarantee of success at the next level, but there's a much better chance that a 4 player will become a consistent contributor than a 3 or 2. It's a numbers game.

In all fairness every team is going to have recruits that don't pan out, but, like Whiskey said, the sites are usually fairly accurate and there is a reason they rate players like the do.

Again you just named 20 over the course of five years. There are probably about 400 or so 4* and 5* players every year. So 20 out of 2000 or 1%. And I would love for you to keep going and name every 4 and 5 star player. Then you would see a correlation.

Eh, theres been a lot of smoke this year with realignment. I've lost count of how many tweets I've seen, all citing "sources" that so and so is leaving their conference and it'll be a done deal by [insert date here]. So far we've only seen Maryland and Rutgers make the move, and theres still litigation regarding that Maryland move. Granted, I think once the Maryland situation is resolved I see the B1G going to at least 16+ teams, but until then I doubt you see any other ACC teams making a move. All I've been hearing on other websites is how the ACC is all but destroyed now, thanks to Delaney, and to this date the ACC has lost Maryland and picked up Louisville ACC seems to me to be doing just fine for the time being.

This would ultimately be doomsday for the BTN because Michigan would want to have exclusive rights to their basketball, hockey and select non-conference football games.

Again, this is very young this talk is. But where there is smoke there is fire. I was informed by this same person that Michigan would be adding varsity lacrosse about a year before it was actually announced to the public. So this is a trusted person.

That's not how we think here in B1G country. The B1G Championship is the goal for everyone. Or at least it should be.

Even in basketball, it is widely known we value the B1G title more than any other conference. In basketball it's thought of as a consolation prize to win your conference in most places. Winning the B1G last year in basketball was the proudest I've ever been of the program since it was in the gutter for 15 years.

I'm actually still disappointed Michigan didn't win the B1G in 1988-89.....and they won the national championship that year!

Does MI hold some sort of monopoly on the big 16/17/18 (or whatever the number is now) network? Last I can checked, osu football/basketball does OK, msu football/basketball does ok, IU basketball is pretty good. Yeah, the network would be ok in you "innuendo" scenario.
