I'd be livid, but nothing I've seen reported yet mentions restrictions on his release, and once it's given, I think he can go wherever. I doubt it's ND, but one can dream I guess.

No idea what happened with Carlisle though, and I agree he's an outlier.

My guess is that Carlisle's dad has enough respect in the CFB community that USC wouldn't want to alienate him.

I'm open to correction on this, but my understanding is that releases are rarely granted without restriction. Kiel, for instance, was restricted from transferring to any school on a future schedule of ours.

Maybe lightning will strike twice and we will get him. I would love to have a great athlete like that, wherever he plays. When he was coming out of high school I loved his playmaking ability on film and didn't want to see him moved to D, but that view seems to be outdated, if it ever had any merit.

Michigan's depth chart at RB is a lot more inviting than USC's, too.
