thats a big boy to be on the diamond.
I'm not worried at all. Was just surprised to see something like that posted without anyone getting nervous about it. Good sign, I suppose.
No one is concerned that some MLB team might offer EV a $3m contract to play baseball? Figured this would have generated at least a little hand-wringing.
The only way he is getting offered $3 million is if he is drafted within the first few picks of the 1st round. The way the MLB draft is now constituted, each team is basically allotted a certain amount of money to sign their draft picks these days and if you go over by so much, you can get charged a 75% luxury tax and if you exceed by even more, you can lose your next year's first round pick.
So, if Team A drafts him #1 overall an offers $3million, that team now loses $3million from their allotted draft cap which means (if they started with $10 million) they now have only $7million to sign the rest of their draft.
For comparison, last year's #1 overall pick received $4.8 million and only 7 out of the 31 1st round picks received $3million or more.
It get's complicated but basically, he's not getting drafted in a round that will make him want to miss ND, especially if he already has low interest in baseball.
Even if he is drafted in the 11th round or later, the most he can get as a signing bonus is 100K even though teams can offer more for those with scholarship offers but no team will give him $3million.
Also considering I have not seen his name once in terms of top MLB draft prospects.
correct...the old way of baseball...yes ...i know of 2 kids around my area that received decent contracts from high school....neither made it passed single a...both are back to home town working odd jobs....1 spent most of his money on coke and cars...and is now going to community college...
It is not about the money, if it was, EV would be playing in the SEC.

Notre Dame’s ‘Pitch’ A Hit With Vanderdoes
pretty good story on how ND got into the picture with him and how the last month played out for him. Also says he's currently benching a max of 405 and 24 reps of 225. Has a 32 inch vertical and runs a 5.0 40.
Didnt Vanderdoes say in his interview that he is not even playing baseball this year? He stated he would be working out with a certain trainer or something.
Read the first three comments under the article. Looks familiar.
I thought I read somewhere that he throws 93 and was hitting .420
If thats the case this kid is like the white chunky version of Bo Jackson......just kidding, sort of
More like Babe Ruth

Here is what I have heard that seems reasonably true:
If he has a relationship outside of football (gray area) he can communicate about anything, except;
He cannot disclose the time, date, or any detail of a prospects visit.
He can talk non ND football to anyone, anytime.
He cannot offer money or trips.
