Seriously guys, there are bigger needs than a 2nd TE in this class. Its called balance at the positions, injuries hurt depth for a year, getting a 2nd TE would create bigger holes at other positions. If Golson or Hendrix go down this year, should we get another QB to go along with Zaire?

Besides, if we get a CAT player in this class, Mattingly could easily be shifted over to TE.

That's the beauty of going after "big skill" a la Mattingly AND Matuska

We just lost two players and have plenty of spots open.

Agreed. People are forgetting that Matuska is a higher rated TE than Mike on at least one site. We have options here. Continue to recruit a few more power and big skill kids, and we will be fine.

We may want to take a 2nd TE in the 2013 class, but I don't see how that has anything to do with Alex Welch's injury, at least not directly. Alex will be back strong as ever in 2013, unless his knee injury is Cam-Roberson-severe, and as far as I've heard we have no reason to think it is that bad. His injury hurts our TE depth this year, not next year.

Now, if the point is just that this injury shows that our TE depth is a little lacking, and we should really get another TE in 2013 to protect against another injury like this next year, then I get that and I agree that taking a second TE is not a bad idea, as we have the spots right now. I think we should also take an OG, as we are thin there with Carrico gone and Cave and Golic graduating, and I'm surprised we aren't trying harder to get a true NG like Nix (maybe we can wait till 2014 for that though).

Back to Alex. I hope your recovery is complete and it isn't as serious an injury as feared.

Have heard no updates:

METHA
May Alex be filled with loving kindness;
May Alex be healthy and strong;
May Alex be free of all dangers, internal or external.
May Alex be filled with the ease of well being.
May Alex be happy!

Tony, Gunner, and Hegarty are also of the ginger breed.

Alex needs to consult with them. Especially, Tony.

After sifting through video for the season primer (wink, wink) I noticed Welch in the weight room looking MASSIVE. That was in the spring.

Wildman, after bumping this thread and scaring the shiit out of me, what are you speaking about? What primer?

Respectfully,

And will there be a thread bump of a Friday event coming this week?

No disrespect to Alex, but why would bumping the thread of a guy who has barely been able to play in three seasons scare the shits out of you?

BK has said numerous times that he has the best hands on the team...he would have been likely #2 TE last year and will be called upon often this year...probably our best inline blocker at the TE position and will def be a target for us especially utilizing 2 TE sets

I was searching video for the 13 season primer with TP.

But, Alex grabbed my attention just from the sheer size of him and had me excited for w TE sets.. that's all.

Maybe it's because he's next to Troy but Heuerman looks noticeably smaller than the others. Nice to see the current TEs welcoming the new guys.

Heuerman seems like he'll be more suited for the TE/slot role because of his size. Nice to see Koyack looking bigger than I remember.

Not a single one of them is wearing a collared shirt and did they play as a fivesome? Where the hell are they playing?
