He is being recruited as a running back and I want Ty Isaac to be part of this class. Ya he might not have break away speed but he is a 5* back that we have a chance to steal away from our RIVAL. Plus he is a Chicago kid.

YES. Could not agree more. Just get him.

Sapp just said that we don't consider Isaac a running-back-only prospect. He still has interest in ND, and BK's decision to stay had no impact on his interest level. Not clear if the 1/25 visit is locked in or still being finalized.

It will be interesting to see what position he ends up playing if he comes to ND.

Interesting, because mods on other sites have said quite plainly he is only being recruited at RB. Wonder who is right.

..... there's this mysterious question that Greyhammer brings up about what position is the staff recruiting him for?

Probably only JohnnyKillz can answer this definitively.

Unless he's already fallen into the Carlsbad Sinkhole.

Yeah, my guess is that the staff is telling him that they are going to try him at RB initially, but that they like the fact that they can move him if necessary. (*ahem* Anthony Barr)

Does no one read this sh!t?

He's being recruited as a RB.

If down the road, he plays something else, well then great.

But the staff is looking at him as a RB.

Good gosh ol'mighty.

LOL!

(1) Alford coaches RBs and Slots. So to say someone is being recruited as a RB only doesn't mean much anyway. The coaches will find out if he has good hands and runs good routes whether he is labeled a RB or a WR.
(2) Kelly is clear that his three categories are a big part of his recuriting strategy. We know he prefers versatile athletes.
(3) Knowing Kelly is not afraid to move a kid around, the staff's saying someone is being recruited at RB probably means that the it envisions him getting his first shot at that position. I don't think they are promising anyone that they will never get moved (unless it is someone who doesn't fit anywhere else, like Rees).

I have not seen anything else about him visiting, anyone else?

Will Ty Isaac switch to Notre Dame?

Now Notre Dame is in the hunt for running back Ty Isaac of Joliet Catholic, who committed to USC last May. The 6-foot-3, 215-pounder who is rated as the No. 2 running back and No. 10 player in the nation by Lemming, plans to visit the South Bend campus this weekend with three other recruits who already have decommitted from USC.

"USC recruiting is in turmoil and Notre Dame hasn't been hurt by the trifecta--being blown out by Alabama in the national championship game, coach Brian Kelly interviewing for the Philadelphia Eagles' head coaching job and the bizarre Manti Te'o/girlfriend hoax story," Lemming said. "They are having a great recruiting year. Alabama or Notre Dame or Florida or Ohio State will finish No. 1 in the recruiting sweepstakes."

There have been hints that Isaac is having second thoughts about his commitment to USC. He had planned to graduate early and enroll at USC in January. But in a text message to ESPN, he said: "Just didn't work out down the line with a couple of things."

ooh, CSNChicago just tweeted back to him, "Can you confirm?"

Isaac tweeted at CSNChicago, "This is false, sources should be checked." It wasn't clear whether he was saying just that it's false that he has plans to visit ND this weekend (it is ... BGI is reporting that plans for Isaac to visit ND are up in the air) or whether the suggestion that he has any ND interest is false.

He denied rumors that he will be visiting ND.
