Interview with Schapp scrapped
Manti isnt from a family of means, so i dont think he can jet off to Hawaii anytime he feels like it. ND cant buy him tickets because I am sure that would be a violation. Though it does beg the question wouldn't he have visited her during the summer? Did he stay in South Bend all summer?
I wondered about that, would that be a recruiting violation? If so then it makes sense.
IIRC her "funeral" was the day of or the day after the Michigan State game.
Swarbrick is a sharp dude and a lawyer who brought in an investigative team to figure out what happened.
For Jack to go "all in" behind Manti and defend him tells me it's beyond doubt that Manti was duped here. God, I hope...

Will we turn on him as fast as we did BK?
What else would anyone expect? This story has taken more twist and turns than the Beast at Kings Island. Very few and I mean very few people really know what happened so it only makes sense.
If he didn't go to his grandmothers funeral then he didn't have the means and you're right it would be a recruiting type violation or something.
I hope that this goes well for Manti, I really do. But at some point doesn't ND have to say " we need to look out for the school"?
"Extra Benefit" violation under NCAA Bylaw 12.3.1
I agree with Pat Forde's comment:
"At the risk of stereotyping, I'll offer this conjecture: Te'o is a Mormon, and there are a lot of LDS members who lack significant romantic experience when entering young adulthood. Courtship might have been a novel and/or highly idealized concept. Physical interaction might not have been at the top of his relationship wish list."
First Take is now discussing Regan Mauia claiming he met her. Lomas Brown and Christian Fauria both believe Te'o was scammed. Smith dissents because he's been a journalist for 20 years and sees people lie all the time.
"She was in a crash, he wasn't there"
"She had leukemia, he wasn't there."
"She died, he wasn't there."
"Three years and he was never there!"
Bayless agreed those are red flags But Bayless pointed out that Swarbrick went where he didn't have to go supporting Te'o.
Smith added ND believes "The dude is phenomenal and they believe it!" but could they not also be duped?
The show is asking viewers to tweet Yes or No, Did Notre Dame handle this correctly. Hash tag FirstTake
Feel bad for Manti....
1. Has zero to do with nd! If urban 's wife got cought cheating would Ohio st be in deep trouble?
2. Probably an innocent religious man that got duped by some sickos
3. Social media is the worst thing that has ever happened to real life.
4. Team knew on 12/26 and without a doubt is a major reason our d got ran over. The leader was probably in ruins.
5. Kelly may have really considered NFL to be able to approach football in a 100% business mode.
I guess we will see. But hopefully Manti if innocent recovers and plays well in the NFL.
The longer he makes us wait for an explanation, the more skeptical I become. If the truth just makes him look like a victim and some naive college kid, just get it over with! I was relieved when he was supposed to interview today but now I'm starting to wonder what's going on behind the scenes.
I know! I am really hoping Notre Dame found more in their investigation than just those two people who knew and were joking about it on twitter a while back. It appeared though from Swarbrick's PC that they used that as strong evidence supporting Manti. I really hope ND got in contact with Ronniah Tuiassasopo(sp) and has found more than just a Catfish documentary and some tweets.
No way Mr. Swarbrick puts his reputation on this if it isn't true.
