See that's what I'm saying Ironman...They seem to have a quiet confidence that they know something we don't.

Sorry Sherm, but this is the first one with even the slightest hint at knowing something bigger. Every single other one it was plain that they had no idea.

Think this thread is rolling fast? Go look at the ESPN article comment section regarding Kelly and the Eagles. Its hyperspeed. Some interesting comments too. Some comments close to what I said earlier about Eagles fans even wanting BK. The thing is, Eagle fan doesn't own the team.

Shoutout to Irish Insanity for increasing my vBuck total 123,304 fold with a 100m donation!

When things are looking down, helping those less fortunate eases the pain. And you are rather new, throw that in the bank if you have no current use, interest pays well.

ive been negged for saying i like urban meyer on here, now half of you are demanding he be our coach. unreal

Funny thing I heard today on the radio was that a large reason why Urban didnt take our job in the first place 2004, was because *** bag kevin white low balled him and he basically said, screw that recruiting nationwide and all these academic standars for a median cfb salary no thanks. This is all a shame I love my Irish and cfb wayy more than the NFL but you have to admit most all college coaches are whores virtually

To all of you folks telling everyone to settle down all will be fine...I'd suggest you gain some perspective here.

Tell me something... We've got kids coming to campus in a couple of days? Who's laying the groundwork to ensure them that they aren't making a mistake by coming in early and "RKG" is off looking and crumbling buildings and eating Weiner Schnitzel? They obviously weren't told about this....And please, save me the kids should commit to the institution, not the coach. As most of you do, you defend every single time one of them as 17-18 year old kids and they're immature and don't think logically and basically lick their arse when they bolt in the 11th hour. What do you think their mind set is now? They make mistakes when things are stable......How can one be confident and calm when no one is doing damage control with these kids on the backend???

It must be terrific having balls the size of grapefruits, able to stare down a bald eagle and not even flinch once and have ice water flowing through your veins........Pretty easy stuff sitting on our end when we're not the fellas making a life impacting decision and their leader is overseas with their futures at stake.

So yeah.... I feel their pain and am pissed as hell that nothing is being done to put our recruits mind at ease.

Thank you, HCTI.

I don't think it has been handled well at all and EVERYONE who is upset has EVERY RIGHT to feel that way, no matter what anyone else says.

IF he stays, great, but he basically showed that his head was NOT in the NCG at all, that he did not commit totally to the team when it was playing its BIGGEST GAME IN 25 years and now he may have impacted the recruiting for this year and many more years to come.

I want someone who WANTS TO BE HERE. Not someone who is using this a money-grab or a stepping stone.

Everyone take a moment and look at how many users are in this thread over a one sided report with little information coming out from the person involved or the university he is linked to.

We really are the best/worst fans in college football

From my point of view, im not looking at it as to whether or not he'll bolt. I'm looking at it and horrified that he met with the Eagles on Tuesday and might meet again with them. That's not what i want to see out of my coach. I want a coach that wants to be at ND so bad that he's not even remotely interested in any other jobs. I want a coach that isn't focused on money and knows that he's a good enough coach that he'll be there a long long time and eventually get his payday because he will continue to win and put forth championship level teams. But maybe that's just me.

If it's a ploy to get more money then i say we hold firm and not give it to him. The biggest mistake we made was giving Weis that big extension after coming close to USC. Kelly is doing the right things but let's not forget that if not for the illegal Bush Push then the 2005 team would've been in the same place as this year's team...in the national championship game.

We need to see how Kelly does in 2014 after one full cycle of "his guys" before I'd consider any extension or big payday.

The recruits arent freaking out, because they probably havent been irish fans all their life. They didnt have to go through 3 win seasons. I told myself that was over, and now im thinking we might have to start all over again. OF course im freaking out

Even if it's true I lost a lot of respect for Kelly. His team just got embarrassed and he got completely outcoached in the NC game. I'd rather him not immediately within 24 hours of losing that game think he's got to try and wring ND for more money. This to me tells me that Kelly isn't so confident he'll ever replicate again what he did this year.

My father said for the past 2 years he was playing Rees only because of who Rees' father was and that he wanted an NFL job and was using ND for that. I never believed that. If and only if he does bolt for the NFL, then I think he might have been on to something.

This is so crazy haha.. Come on man. The presumptuous ledge jumpers are really out tonight.

If you had a chance to try and double your salary while adding job security, wouldn't you do the same?

Why would he care if people thought he wasn't committed if he was just going to interview a couple days later?

Because it was before the NCG. The difference is obvious. I never listen to what a coach says about other jobs before a big bowl game. He's got his team's motivation and focus to worry about. If BK felt like saying "Yeah I'm interested" would detract from the team's focus before the NCG, then he absolutely did the right thing. This whole "Stick to your word" stuff comes off as trite and naive. Coaches don't care about fans. They care about the next game, their players, and their jobs. BK was looking out for all 3 by denying his interest in the NFL, and I don't blame him. I still don't think he's going anywhere, but if he does, I don't blame him. Some coaches just want to try out the next level.

You're right.... I am sure that the position coaches are just sitting around, curled up in the fetal position, sucking their thumbs... they sure as hell aren't out there contacting these guys in whatever way is permissible and reassuring them. And you're assuming that these kids are freaking out. The only statements I have seen are the recruits telling everyone to calm down. I'm sorry, I just don't see any reason to overreact to this.

There are two sides to every story. I don't like jumping to conclusions in general, but I also feel comfortable the Kelly isn't going anywhere. People talk, there are informational interviews, there are professional courtesies, there are egos. There are also "sources" with angles and agendas. I'm going to let this play out. If I'm wrong and he bolts, there will be plenty of time to throw childish fits of rage later. I just find it hard to believe he would leave now for the Eagles - it makes no sense to me. It would be a major step back in his career, IMO. So until there is something solid either way, I'll reserve my tirade.

My belief is this all gets resolved Thursday with news of an extension for Kelly. At least this is what I am telling myself so I can sleep tonight. This has to happen quickly so as not to damage our recruiting class.

Is there any indication the Eagles want Kelly besides the fact they interviewed him? Did they offer him the job?
