It's funny because I keep thinking he's the worst prospect in this class. SMH @ myself. How is it that we have no marginal prospects in this entire recruiting class?????
Hate to say told you so...but go back to the first few pages of this thread and see what Philly and I were saying about Butler then.

I really like what his Ethics teacher says about him. He's smooth and fluid. Anyone can see that.

He's going down as DB Smoove in my book.

From Wednesday Top Performers:

2. Devin Butler, CB, Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga
Quote:
On the hoof, Butler is physically one of the most well-equipped players in the East defensive backfield. After a solid day on Tuesday, Butler was outstanding on Wednesday using his long frame to disrupt receivers and showing the athleticism to stay on top of vertical routes and double moves. The Notre Dame commit looks like an elite defender.

What I like is that if you follow him on twitter he thought he had a really bad day on Tuesday and a better day on Wednesday. That is the kind of drive that will make him a very good player.

Slant wasn't really his fault, he was playing the fade and got no inside help, but yeah he got trucked by the QB on a run. Had relatively good tackling form but the QB simply got lower with more power.

You could be right about the coverage, I was grabbing drink and saw the catch at the end with Butler on him so didnt see entire play or assignment. I still love this kid and think he will be a good one for us in a few years. Tackling form was pretty good other than head placement, head was down which is never good.

If more HS kids took Ethics, Ann Arbor would be a village.

I was also at the game sitting behind the field goal pole and thought D Butler held his own. Yes he did get beat on a quick slant. He did get trucked only because he had to stay back on his man just in case the qb threw to his man on coverage, therefore the qb had momentum when D.Butler went for the tackle. I give him props for not avoiding the contact.

so how is it explained that he dropped from 36 to 62 in position rankings for rivals?

He went to the 247 AA game, they are busy rewarding the kids from the AAA game.

247, who was busy rewarding their guys, bumped him into their Top 247, at 189.

Hit the nail on the head. Another great example of this is ESPN having Matthew Thomas above Jaylon Smith. Thomas was in the UA game on ESPN.

ESPN has had Thomas ahead of Jaylon in the ranking all year. It doesn't really matter. Both will be first round picks. Mark it down.

Had to read this three times. At first I thought it was just a random collection of words. ;)

Yoiks! Zounds! Egads! Drat!

I read Sherms post (in it's original from) and didnt even blink. A testament, I 'spose, to how my internet filter/auto-correct has progressed ...

Yeah... Devin was pretty torn up and angry about the Anzalone decommitment. I hope we get to play the Gators and Devin gets his revenge.
