Had O$U not been on a Bowl Ban?

Wrap your collective heads around this thought:

The SEC should be thanking Jim Tressel and Terrelle Pryor for their latest Championship. Without O$U's bowl ban, Notre Dame is playing 12-0 O$U for the Natty.

- Florida gets bumped from the Sugar Bowl for Bama.
- That leaves 2 open spots in BCS games (B1G in Rose and Oregon's in Fiesta)
- Fiesta would have had the first pick with a choice of Oregon or Florida
- Depending on how the Rose Bowl decided to fill the B1G's spot, Florida may or may not get in.

Something to think about.

Notre Dame would have beaten that O$U team.

BTW Urban pissed me off during coverage on the NCG.

I was pretty sure they were #3 in the BCS so we wouldn't have been playing them regardless of their sanctions. I might be mistaken though.

Urban is actually somewhat friends with Kelly. He picked Notre Dame to win the game actually during pregame.

Kinda a crazy "what if".... that one year bowl ban may have altered the paradigm of college football. Or what if OSU just self-sanctioned last year instead of sending their 6-6 team to a worthless bowl? Crazy to think about.

Bingo. Remember we were all critical of them for not doing that last year.

They honestly thought that nothing was going to happen to them this year. That is why they didn't take any action.

I'm not sure about where they would have been in the BCS rankings, but think about it this way:

There was some scuttle about Braxton Miller not getting any attention in the Heisman race because O$U was banned from a bowl and on probation. Probably some truth to that. Don't you think that NOT being banned from bowl season would have influenced where coaches and Harris poll voters would have ranked O$U? There are a lot of subconscious factors that go into rankings (see James Franklin's last Poll ballot...guy had no business voting).

I guarantee you that an undefeated O$U isn't edging out a 1 loss Bama team in the final BCS poll.

Wisconsin would not be in a BCS game.

Standford demolishes Northern Illinios 35-10 in the Rose bowl.

Alabama destroys Oregon 63-24 in the Sugar Bowl.

Louisville in an upset beats Florida State 31-27.

A more focused Florida beats K-State 21-17.

Notre Dame beats Ohio State 28-17 in the national championship game.

Really this just makes me hate Terrelle Pryor even more. He cost Notre Dame a championship.

all this assumes the would have won B1G champ game.

(likely-but not guaranteed. anyone see the purdue game in columbus this year???)

We woulda beat em. I know we struggled at times against mediocre teams such as Purdue, Pitt, and BYU, but OSU at times struggled against BAD teams.

They needed everything in them to beat a 3-9 Cal team, hold on to a 2 point, 51-49 victory against Indiana, MSU by 1 at home, and a tough, grind it out 14 point victory against 3-9 UAB.

I think we would have won in the 7-13 range.

Any one see the Purdue game in South Bend this year???

If Purdue would have prepared and played like they did against ND and OSU all season long, they would have won 10 games this year.

I'm not confident OSU would have beaten Wisconsin when it most mattered, and judging by our seemed lack of focus-execution in the NCG, it would have been far from a gimme anyways.

S-it happens, unfortunately it did on the worst stage imaginable, and I honestly don't know how many teams we would have beaten Monday night.

Just my humble opinion, but I wouldn't beat myself up about it.

Pretty sure they would have played Nebraska who they thoroughly thrashed and who Wisconsin hung like 200 points on.

This should be in the blame thread. I mean it is all OSUs fault, and everyone involved with the program at the time, that we didn't play them and beat them

Seriously tho, I thought about this the other day and how different things could have been
