From a Bama poster on a Bama forum..............

I think their offense might be able to take advantage of field position if their defense is as good as advertised. This game is the one unknown in the 3 national championships to me. I really felt that colt wouldnt be able to light the scoreboard up on us in 09 and i really thought we would be able to beat LSU by two scores after seeing all the missed oppurtunities in the 1st game. I really dont know much about notre dame because they play a PAC12/Big 10 schedule and they really got hyped up when it looked liked two undefeateds were going to be left out, and the amount of breaks they have gotten makes you think of Auburn 10, just quirky things go their way. I'll give them a td in my prediction, but given the fact that Saban is given a month to prepare makes me feel better that the quirky things are limited. 27-13

Does anyone know why Kelly wasn't given a month to prepare?

Yeah, we should really play more of a FCS schedule so that this guy will be more familiar with how Notre Dame plays.

So the SEC is 3-2 so far this bowl season and the mythical "SEC level Defense" is kind of hard to find. The three Top 10 teams that have played so far went 2-1 and really should have been 1-2 if Michigan hadn't crapped their pants. That is largely against much lower ranked opposition.

Clemson scored 25 beating LSU
Northwestern scored 34 smacking down Miss State
Michigan put up 28 on South Carolina - should have won.
Nebraska scored 31 on Georgia
NCST scored 24 on Vandy

Who's left -

Florida vs. Louisville - tonight
TA&M vs Oklahoma - Friday
Ole Miss vs Pitt - Saturday
Bama vs ND - Monday

I'll be watching tonight and Friday hoping to see more high scoring to reinforce my belief (more likely hope) that SEC defenses are overrated. If Louisville can put up at least twenty and Oklahoma can hold TA&M under 20 I'll start thinking I am on to something. Although I think Florida could come out flat.

Irks me that Oregon and K-State are playing each other, I wanted to see one of them take on Florida. Of course the SEC sets up their bowl affiliations to avoid playing tougher conferences.

Louisville isn't that good unfortunately. If there is a great defense in this year's SEC it is Florida. Florida though has a tendency not blow teams out. One thing about Louisville is they are young with good coaching by Charlie Strong's staff I can see them making a jump before the bowl game. The Florida D though, is actually good unlike some of the other frauds that are overhyped by the SEC logo.

Don't know if OU holds A&M under 20 but they may put 40 or 50 on Texas A&M. Heck Louisania Tech put up 57 on A&M this year. I would be happy if OU holds A&M under 30 and wins like 49 to 28. Even if OU gives say 34 or 35 and wins I would still feel good. A&Ms scoring is inflated a bit because of the fast pace.

I think Florida Curb stomps Lousiville....I think its 24-3, and is never close.

EDIT: well I got the never even close right...Wohoo, down goes the SEC again

A&M and OK ...man that thing could turn into an all out track meet. If these defenses can't figure out how to dial up pressure...this thing could be a 100 point bonanza...

I'll call a sub .500 bowl record for the SEC this year. I'll call Florida as the only one to win out of the four left.

Florida should beat Louisville handily, although I am hoping for more of a battle than expected. Next to FSU/NIU this is the most lopsided matchup the entire bowl season. Actually Georgia/Nebraska was pretty bad too.

Johnny Heisman will flop against Oklahoma. Huge distraction and he doesn't have the maturity to deal with it AND perform in the Cotton Bowl.

Pitt has some talent, they want to make up for a disappointing season and Ole Miss is garbage.

Bama loses to ND because WE ARE ND and they aren't.

There you have it, SEC goes 4-5 in bowl games. My vBucks are counting on it.

Florida even with their inconsistent offense might be the best team in the SEC. Yep Bama fans I just said that.

Also considering Wisconsin put 70 on Nebraska and Stanford held them to 14 I'm thinking the Stanford D might be better than Bama's. I know Wisconsin isn't that great but they did score 70. The Nebraska D may stink but the 2nd best offense in the SEC only scored 45 on them as opposed to the 70 Wisconsin did. I'm not saying Wisconsin O is better than the Georgia O. I'm just saying the Standford D is really good.

I have no doubt the Stanford D is better than Bama's. They are far more consistent.

I'm with you. I watched these powerful SEC teams and didn't see anything that made me think they were heads and tails above everyone else. I read on a Bama forum that ND would have a hard time beating MissSt., yet Northwestern kicked their behinds.

If Louisville (somehow/someway) and Oregon win their games along with 7+ point in regulation ND and we could be looking at a 1 2 finish for Notre Dame and Standford (the two smart schools) in the coaches poll. It is unclear rather Standford could pass Oregon. I say they should they should because they beat Oregon head to head and they only have an extra loss cause they actually played someone (ND) out of conference. Of course OSU would likely be 2nd in the AP under this scenario.

Housekeeping-wise, #NotreDame spokesman Brian Hardin said there are no academic casualties and no players under disciplinary action.

Notre Dame arrives in Miami

Notre Dame touched down in balmy southern Florida accompanied by a couple hundred onlookers and a welcome blast from water cannons at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport Wednesday afternoon. Keeping his players well hydrated will be an immediate focus for head coach Brian Kelly this week.
The Irish begin their final game-plan polishing practices for the BCS Championship game Thursday in temperatures expected to be in the low 80s — 60-plus degrees warmer than the weather they left behind in South Bend. Kelly said it will be important to get his team used to the heat during the next couple of days.

“We’ll get after it pretty good tomorrow,” he said. “We want to make sure they feel the weather. …They just need to get acclimated. Hydration is key.”

The team started preparing for the warmer weather by adding more fluids last weekend while working in their indoor practice facility back on campus. Kelly said the six-week layoff since winning their season finale on Nov. 24 gave his players plenty of time to improve their conditioning.

The players landed in Miami more overwhelmed by the friendly greeting than the blast of hot air that hit them on the Ft. Lauderdale tarmac. Senior wide receiver Robby Toma, a Hawaii native, said he’s looking forward to working up a sweat.

“I grew up playing in this weather, so I’m excited for that,” he said.

The entire Irish roster was present and accounted for, according to Kelly. There were no last minute injuries to report after a pair of physical practices to finish their preparations at home and no unforeseen surprises with players checking in. That includes sophomore wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, who is expected to be a contributor against Alabama. Daniels missed the last two weeks of the regular season after breaking his collarbone against Boston College.

“He’ll play a role, and we hope it’s a significant role in what we do,” Kelly said.

Beyond adjusting to the weather, Kelly said the next couple of days of practice will be strictly focused on putting the finishing touches on their plan to unseat the defending champion Crimson Tide Monday night. Kelly said he was happy with the amount of work his team has accomplished to date, but knew there was still more to do in the coming days.

“This is a business trip,” he said. “There’s no question we’re here to play the game, but I want our guys relaxed. They’ve done all the work. We’ve got some practice we’ve got to take care of but I want them relaxed and ready to play.”

Notre Dame begins its preparation in Miami Thursday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. and will also practice Friday and Saturday before a walk-through on Sunday leading up to the championship game. Tonight, the Irish plan to begin their acclimation process to the new city by taking in a Miami Heat basketball game.

They said on Sportscenter Notre Dame's hotel The Westin Diplomat is 12 miles up the beach from their location (by the stadium I presume) at a quiet family resort while Alabama's hotel The Fountainebleu is just blocks away and next to one of the hottest clubs in the world (Drake played on New Years)

Bama has been here before (in New Orleans last year no less), and they have a coach that is arguably the most meticulous coach in cfb when it comes to minute details. They will be ready to play, we will be ready to play, all hands on deck.

What really gets me is the guys that write those bash articles would get injured trotting out on the field to hand off the Gatorade bottle. Pencil neck geek that never played a down at any level always has the stupid opinion based on Jack Shat! Then there is the 25 year old kid that weighs buck 05 that thinks he knows it all because he plays Madden 10 hours a day. I just want to punch em in the face. Is that wrong?
