Are we certain that Lance Kiffin was even there tonight. Hopefully, SC doesn't get the last two touches with him. If Lanny Kiffin goes tomorrow isn't that like cheating?

Geez, I thought one Kiffen boy was bad enough!!! now it appears they're are 3!!!

lane visiting tomorrow shows even more how much we lead imo

I'm going back and forth thinking it's because we are ahead and there's more work to do on Lane's end OR he truly believes that there is still a chance to land Max. UGH!

Here is how that in home is going to go..

Kiffin: "So what do you like about Notre Dame?"
Redfield: *Lists everything he likes*
Kiffin: "Well we're actually #1 in all of that and bullsh*t bullsh*t bullsh*t." He will go out of his way to talk about how "awesome" the academics are at USC for whatever he wants to do.

Then he will talk about all the great players they have coming in this year and how he will play immediately and then finally he will sell staying close to home near his family and them getting to see him every single week. Basically, the Amir Carlisle approach.

And this will be the last thing on his mind before we hit the "dead period" where Kiffin has been known in the pass to ignore the rules and contact recruits.

So we'll see what happens... never count out Kiffin and Ed O... but hopefully Redfield sits down and realizes how Notre Dame is superior in every aspect for him. Better academics, better academic focus, better coaches, and better athletics. You can choose a school that went from pre-season #1 to 7-5 (i.e. the worst under-achievement in NCAAF history emphasizing just how awful Kiffin is as a coach) and has no defensive coordinator OR you can go to the school with the only 2x coach of the year and assistant of the year as the DC. It's not a hard choice when you cut out the bullsh*t.

I really hope this works out the way I expect it to so that I don't ever have to hear this again. IMO, they're done. This idea is so 2011.

Thank you TP for the heads up. I really think he is ND bound and there really wasn't too much that would have changed that. Can't wait till he commits. He will be a HUGE get on the defensive side of the ball.

That's great to hear, thanks TP.If he is indeed heading to the 574 then we got ourself an elite player. We already have an elite front 7 and it looks like we will have one for years to come. Building up an elite secondary is almost going to be unfair

My cousin is a buddy of his and thinks that he'll end up at ND. That said, my cousin also mentioned that Max seems to view it as "doing the right thing" but not without remorse. If he's thinking straight, he ends up at ND, but there's always a small chance he wants to stay home and changes his mind. Apparently Oregon was a cool school but too far away to be close to home and didn't offer anything except geography that ND had.

While it's certainly disappointing, I'm choosing not be concerned with it. Until Kiffin and his staff prove they can develop all of this talent, they'll be the equal comparison to Charlie Weis in my eyes. He and Polian were very good offensive (and some defensive) recruiters. But lack of development lead to average seasons year after year.

This is a very good point. Charlie's failure at ND was that he tried to run the program more like an NFL team. I believe Kiffin is very similar in that regard. They just figure if you have the talent you can automatically win. These kids still need to be developed.

USC coaches Lane Kiffin, Marvin Sanders, Tee Martin, Kennedy Polamalu and John Baxter met with four-star athlete Max Redfield (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo) during an in-home visit ahead of the fast-approaching dead period.

“My mind is pretty made up at this point," Redfield said. "I think I’ve known for a while.”

They brought the house. Hopefully, an unsuccessful attempt.
This from that ESPN article. It basically talks about the pitch Kiffin and co made. Not to go in detail, but it sounds exactly like L.A. talked about in an earlier post.

From what I gather USC tried everything under the sun but it looks like he will pick ND. Redfield said he has known for awhile where he is going.

That's the key phrase that gives me full confidence that it is ND.

Yup. With you 100% on this one. There have been many perceived peaks and valleys throughout this recruitment, but at the end of the day the kid was always doing/saying the right things (as far as ND is concerned). I am WAY more confident in this kid being Irish than anyone else left on the board, inclusing AQM.

I'm most confident in Folston.

When Max indicated that it was a "business decision" did it have anything to do with what his major would be? Do we know what he wants to study and which school has a better program for what he wants to study?

I might be misinterpreting what you are saying. But we he says "business decision" I think he means doing what's best for him and what he wants, instead of doing the easy thing and going to USC and playing close to home and with a bunch of his buddies. That's the way I take it.

Hadn't thought of it like that. Makes sense. Thx

When he stated that he wants to take the emotion out of it, I take that as meaning the emotion of leaving home. Leaving his brother ect.

I believe that I have read in this thread that he wants to study drama/theater.
