Again, don't laugh. What about one of those like plastic or whatever, freezable cubes that won't melt liquid into your drink?

Never tried it, but I'd imagine they would work (at best) as well as whiskey stones. Which is to say, not very well at all. My knowledge of the thermodynamics involved is sketchy, but soap stone and plastic seem to be poor thermal conductors, so they won't cool your whiskey much.

If you're aiming to cool your whiskey without watering it down, you can always put the bottle and/or some of your whiskey glasses in the freezer.

I too drink my whiskey with ice, but since I am a heathen, I actually like it when it melts a little. The first couple sips of a fine whiskey I like to take in the aroma and really take in the flavor, but after a glass of that, I prefer to put a couple cubes in to 1) make my drink last longer and 2) make it easier to drink.

I wouldn't do that with a $100 bottle or anything, but i'll slam watered down makers on the regular.

Stone Levitation. A very good easy drinking beer (only 4.4% abv) but with significantly more flavor than most amber ales at this abv. Has a fair amount of hops and some nice malty flavor.

Drank plenty of the new Crown Royale Maple. Pretty solid. Not too think like a lot of other flavored whiskeys.

In the ice or no ice debate, I'm all for neat. I feel the ice ruins it and I have the issue, if you want to call it that, of just being able to drink straight whiskey/bourbon/scotch like it's soda. The whiskey alone gives me plenty of flavor that I don't want to ruin it with ice.

Dark, spiced, and full-bodied. Try Scotch ales, Winter Warmers, English Barleywine/ Old ales, Milk Stouts, Belgian Dubbels/ Quads, Weizenbocks or Doppelbocks.

If you like hops, you'll probably love it. I have no taste for bitterness, so it's not my cup of tea.

Yesterday I had Stone Double Bastard. A damn good beer but just remember that it is 11.2% abv when you drink it.

[Old Fart Reminiscence Warning]​

Back in '76 or so I made a batch of eggnog on a day off to bring to an "office" party when I worked at a book store. Trust me when I tell you that making the nog was quite the workout when one hasn't a power mixer on hand. When asked if I'd "laced" it with Jack Daniel's, I was able to say (with a straight face) "no."

I used George Dickel No. 8. It was a Christmas party with many happy reindeer.
