'13 TX WR Corey Robinson (Notre Dame Early Enrollee)

I'm not a scout or recruiter but his senior tape is very good. After a couple of years of working on route running and weight training this kid could be scary.

Could develop into a Jimmy Graham type WR/TE hybrid. That is his 5 star upside, IMO.

Totally agree with the Jimmy Graham reference. Heck, he played ball with his hall of fame Papa so you know this kid has UPs!!! He is a matchup nightmare for sure!!!

LOL, have no idea. This kid could end up being the "sleeper" of "ALL TIME' in my Ali voice. If he grows a little more with his athleticism, how would you cover him? He'd have half the defense tied up covering him.

I can't break down the receivers by XYZ but its a pretty impressive group next year. Davaris, TJJ, Davonte, Chris Breezy, Justin Ferguson, Corey as EE, James O (EE?), Tori H. I'm pretty sure I'm missing someone. Good collection of skills right there.

Salivating at that. Even in his later years, after he had lost a step, Hines Ward was so freaking good in the red zone. A guy like that is exactly what we need.

Very, very hight ceiling. Looked at some of his tape ealier this year and wow. Surprised he is still rated so low. Still raw I know, but he will a red zone nightmare, if not an every zone mismatch.

Work ethic is also not going to be an issue. To me the only question is whether he develops into a true WR, a tweener, or a TE. There is a reasons that there are not to many +6'5" WRs- its hard to be quick at that height.

In any event, he is going to be a monster in the endzone.

Would anyone really be shocked if David Robinson's son became a dominant college WR?

I'm not saying stars are the end all / be all, but surprised he hasn't received any love. Hell most superstars' kids get an extra star when they don't deserve it, and I think Corey does deserve.

i think right now three stars is right on with him....he's got a 5 star ceiling, but with his competition level and untapped raw skills, i think he's right here where he needs to be at this stage in his career

An aspect of this that doesn't get much comment is that Coach is going for these huge receivers for more than Eifert-ing and Floyd-ing the size and muscle-challenged D-Backs for the ball. Coach wants these guys to be formidable downfield blockers. He has a brilliant "theory": your running back will get occasional holes in the opponents' front sevens. If your WRs block the brains out of the D-Backs, your RBs will go for 50 instead of eight.

The power blocking nimble-footed big wide is the weapon of the future. That is why Kelly praised Mike so much and this year Tyler too. This is why Kelly played Daniel Smith [who is the guy that Me2SouthBend is forgetting]. Coach undoubtedly sees Corey's combination of power and great feet and is wowed at least as much by those as by Corey's height and jumping ability.

What we need is for Coach to talk Tyler into giving Corey [and everybody else in the receiving corps] workshops on what is the most astoundingly successful body-positioning skill that I've ever seen.



As to stars: once the player verbals to us, and the staff is really happy, who-the-he!l cares?? Finishing "first" in someone's recruit rankings is extremely irrelevant even as to next year's recruiting. The only thing that a "low" star-rating might add to the real world of football, is that ignorant coaching staffs might never look his way and therefore not meddle. Even that, though is slightly a preposterous concept. The staffs know. The systems only sometimes know.

I just watched his senior highlight film. WOW!

He put in the work and improved tremendously this year. He might be the recruit I am most excited about next to Jaylon now. He was catching everything. Passes overthrown, behind him, and high pointing almost every ball. This kid is going to be a stud.

Definitely. His hands are much better than most big receivers at the same stage - for some reason (maybe it's just me) it seems that big WRs have a tougher time with hand eye coordination than smaller ones. Corey plucks the ball out of the air with confidence.

What also sticks out to me is his athleticism. For someone that big, he moves incredibly well. The highlights here and from the Opening get me really excited for his overall potential. Easy to see why Sean Mele loves his upside so much. I don't know who Mele loves more, Corey, McGlinchey, or Elmer

From everything I have seen and heard he is still 6'5. But than again, his dad had his major growth spurt while at the Naval Academy, so who knows if Corey is truly done growing.

I really like his film. From a stature standpoint he reminds me of Jeff Samardzija. Was Jeff just a freak or was it he scheme that sent him across the middle so many times. I see Robinson strictly on the outside jumping over people.

I don't know, but that would be a great attribute to possess in and around the redzone.

My initial thought was if CR put on weight and continues to grow, he could become a TE for the Irish. After looking at his tape and reading the many comments on his thread, I'm thinking that as long as he continues to grow and please Longo by packing on the weight/muscle-dude could be a 6-6, 6-7 230-240# receiver. Could you imagine a beast like that lining up wide every play? With a 2 TE set, that's 3 bigs that defenses have to account for. Would be a great problem to have.
