One thing you see the Haters bring up is his being 59th in the nation in total tackles. I know he had something like 40 more than anyone else on the team. Has anyone spent the time to look at the percent of plays he was involved in? With the defense being so good, I would imagine the number of plays the team defended was way less then if he dominated on a poor defense. They did not face too many long drives and I know in a few games he made most of the tackles in the first half because he wasn't needed in the second.

Common Sense?

Common Sense?

Do you think any SEC fans have any?
I mean sorry for this rant brothers but good god....
Just reading those A&M and LSU fans posts are ridiculous. Don't get me wrong what Johnny Football has done is unbelievable and if he wins the Heisman good for him. Heck yeah I want Te'o to win, if he doesn't it's not the end of the world cause Te'o doesn't play for those awards. Te'o plays for his team, Te'o and Notre Dame are playing for the crystal ball folks!!
I lived in Louisiana for two years and I got so much crap in High School about Notre Dame. And yeah we weren't that good a couple years back.
But Brian Kelly had a plan and damnit has that plan worked out.
LSU fans honestly think even Bama fans cause I went to that game last year in Tuscaloosa. Both of them think ND cheats, they wouldn't beat Tenn, Ole Miss not joking this is how dumb they are.
Sorry for my rant I must continue
My cousin who I won't release his name but my cousin is committed to LSU and I'm happy for him! He's worked his *** off to get there. He hates Notre Dame as a team but respects them and knows that they would compete in the SEC.
Some fans just don't understand.
And if we lose all hell will break loose with the Bama fans but watch out for LSU fans. they are the worst. they'll say we didn't deserve to be there when even if we lose, we're going to be a national title contender for years to come.
When I moved to the south I would wear my ND gear with pride even though we only won 7 or 8 games people would spit on my ND stuff draw **** on my apparel. I mean really what are we in 3rd grade?
Sorry for my rant Irish Envy brothers that's all I got to say

And **** bama Go Irish We Are ND!

Number one Grad rate, number one in the country and might have the number one recruiting class.

Peace!

These people are not worth worrying about. The haters like to laugh at ND because we haven't won an NC since 1988...try 1939 for A&M.

Manziel is the biggest thing A&M has had since the year WW II broke out so they are naturally bitter when Manti cleans up on all the awards. Let them say what they want...and tune in on January 7 at around midnight eastern time for their excuses.

Statistics don't measure the greatness of any one player. You conveniently left out the INTS. How very objective of you. You know better than the people who voted on the award? That's what you're saying?

You're right about statistics, which is expedient- if statistics alone measured a player's greatness, your guy wouldn't be anywhere close. Had I opted to include his interception statistics, though, I would've had to say that Manti Te'o's again not the best. He's tied with two others for 2nd, in fact. Second. In interceptions. Still not Heisman worthy, but you insist on citing that lone statistical piece of joy, so perhaps we should agree that the better defensive candidate is the guy who's first in interceptions, Philip Thomas from Fresno State. Why not, I mean, Thomas is over fifty places further up the TFL list than your guy, has thirty more tackles, and he has nearly three times the number of sacks. But hey, at least Te'o's sack total ranks sixth on his own team. And for all appearances hereabouts, that's enough to make him deserving of the Heisman. How inspiring. Wait- that's all it takes, right: to be inspirational?

Yeah, keep livin' the dream. Go Nice Guys! Beat Bama!

Elite defenses allow very few offensive plays per game. This season, ND allowed only 65.8/ game, which is good for 5th fewest nationally. That's 10% below the national average.

Conversely, Sumlin's offense is uptempo and produces a very high volume of plays; 85.2/ game this year, which ranks 3rd nationally. That's 17% above the national average.

If you remove some of this systemic bias by boosting Te'o's stats by 10% and reducing Manziel's by 17%, you get a much better picture of their relative achievements.

Te'o's normalized stats - 113 tackles (57 solo), 8 INTs, 2 sacks, 2 FRs, 12 passes defended, 4 PBUs.

Manziel's normalized stats - 2838 yards passing for 20 TDs and 7 INTs, and 980 yards rushing for 16 TDs.

Takes some shine off of Johnny Football. Once you take Sumlin's scheme into account (system QB, anyone?), along with the pre-season arrest, the no-shows against UF and LSU, etc. it's clear that Te'o is the most deserving Heisman candidate.

You still aren't going to answer about Manziel playing scared and blowing the game against 2 of the 3 decent teams he played?

Do you understand what a MLB, (that means Middle Linebacker, not Major League Baseball) does in a 3-4 scheme like ND's?

Manti has less tackles! He sucks! The QB threw it right to him! Tipped balls shouldn't count as interceptions! He doesn't have as many sacks as a OLB/DE!

Whatever. Manti is the best statistical MLB this year and has the most INTs for a LB in over a decade (in 12 games). He has 3 100+ tackle seasons and is the leader of the #1 defense in the country. He led ND back to the NCG for the first time in 25 years and did it the right way.

If these awards were 100% about stats, Kuechly would have won everything defensively last year, Eifert would have won the Mackey in a landslide and Herschel Walker would have won the Heisman as a freshman. It's 100% about media perception, intangibles, personality and other factors ON TOP of stats. Showing up in big games is another factor that can't be overlooked. It's the ONLY reason Manziel is in the conversation and the only reason Klein is no longer in the conversation. Manti has done more in big games than the other games, in fact, the big stage is where he excels. Add in his back story, his humility and the fact that he's an academic AA to boot in a year that doesn't have many standout offensive players... the stars aligned and he's the most decorated CFB player EVER with 3 more awards he has a chance to win. He deserves every one of them. He's literally what CFB should be about in all aspects.

He also deserves the Heisman, but that's another story. At this point, it's not even that big of a deal. He has plenty of recognition. I just want to be back on top instead of tied with USC/OSU for the most :rockwoot:

ND fans, this is exactly why so many people hate the aggys. They are the most delusional fan-base on the earth. From a Texas Tech fan, every college in Texas is embarrassed by them. They call Tech classless, then typically run their mouths endlessly. They are even bringing up Manti's tragic losses using it against him as to why he is even mentioned - it is sickening. There is no point in debating with them, they simply don't have the capacity to understand the situation. They can't see that a LB doesn't have the ability to pad his stats like a QB or RB. They don't understand that kind of leadership. They will point to different stats on paper all day, unless of course that means pointing to the win column. Almost every non-SEC homer fan wants Te'o to win because without him you guys wouldn't be in the National Championship. Aggy isn't even in a BCS bowl game. Enough said.

This reminds me of when we had those Oklahoma fans on here (2 or 3 of which stuck around and provided quality discussion) and then the Sooners board saw our thread when we called them out for outlandish score predictions (those worked out great), so they made a thread about our thread. Inception.

This is the second time an opposing fanbase message board has gotten into it with IE. Welcome to ND hating in the internet age!

Oh man, I didn't know it could feel this good to be hated so much! Just think how much more we will be hated when the six year SEC circle jerk ends! Love my Domers!

Congrats to Manti for an amazing night making history! From the day you committed, to your final hurrah you have been everything ND nation expected you to be and then some! You helped wake up the sleeping bear and I heard he hungry! Now go eat!

I've been looking for a place to say this for a while now, but didn't really wanna derail any normal threads, but since this one is so far gone, I'll just throw it here.

You have to be the most upbeat, positive poster ever. I don't think I've ever seen a post of yours that's argumentative or without at least one exclamation point. It brings a little bit of sun to my days. Keep it up Positive Patsy.

Agree completely, and certainly don't mean it in a sarcastic tone, yankee.
