Sadly i dont think Manti wins simply because the heisman is basically an offensive trophy. Here is to hoping im wrong


With that being said Manti will go down as one of my favorite ND players of all time

I think the only shot is that the QBs split the offensive vote enough for Manti to slide into the top spot.

Either way, what an incredible honor for a defensive player to be invited. Congrats, Manti!

The fact that Manti will get a segment on national TV to tell his story and continue in his life mission is all we can ask for. Throw that in with the keynote speaker being another Notre Dame legend and this Heisman ceremony is as good as it gets. If we wins its just icing on my cake. He will show himself as the winner of the three by the way he represents himself not by the trophies he holds.

Go Manti and thank you for what you have done for this university.

Does anyone know if Kelly and Manti will be at the awards banquet at Notre Dame on Friday night? I assume they will be but I'm sure the Heisman activities start Friday night.

They'll be in New York starting Friday. Will both also miss the first practice.

These awards don't excite me too much. Usually when they give out the more "minor" awards to someone they don't get the Heisman. Same happened to Quinn.

Not really...the Heisman winners just also win all the minor awards.

Note: Not arguing that he'll win it. But, I bet Manziel gets a bunch of minor awards too.

Is he missing the banquet and the senior awards ceremony for the Heisman on Saturday or are they two different events?

If he didn't win best defensive player, he wouldn't win best player.

this is coming from an Alabama fan...Teo deserves the award and it shouldn't even be that close. the media is obsessed with stats but apparently don't care or just missed the person outside of the lines. i don't want him to win just because he plays defense, but because he is what college football is all about. manziel may have beaten us at home, but that shouldn't mean automatic heisman, right?

Woodson started his Heisman with sweeping these awards. Best linebacker and best defensive player are not minor.

Woodson started his Heisman with sweeping these awards. Manti's count: Best linebacker and best defensive player are not minor. Sportsmanship award doesn't have the clout yet, but they obviously do it when they anounce the award to influence the Heisman.
