In all seriousness ... Is this bad for us if it happens? I had UM fan arguing with me today, said Delaney is trying to disassemble ACC for many reasons, including us possibly going there.

Do we need to pay an exit fee if the ACC becomes the new Big East? I really thought that switch for us would bring stability, but it's not looking so hot right now.

Please make this stop! I was fine with the Maryland/Louisville exchange because I see that as a net gain, but losing Ga Tech would hurt as they are in a major media market and offer solid academics.

Not surprised UM fans would think that. Much of this realignment business, particularly regarding the B1G, is being driven by media markets. The B1G network is a huge cash cow, and it gets bigger with every major media market they expand into.

Ironically, a major reason ND refused to join the B1G was its regional character, and that's exactly the problem Delany is tring to solve now. Worst case scenario, we can always join the Big-12 in all sports.

I just hope dominoes don't start falling. I'm glad the ACC picked up Louisville quickly. I hope FSU stays where it is. I'm worried that their SOS issues this year leads them to leave. The ACC needs to step up their game or they go the way of the Big East.

Exactly. Atlanta would be a nice get.

CFB these days crack me up...
I have buds from all conference. Per all of them, their conference is having a down year...

PAC12 buds.... Oregon lost, Stanford has 2 losses, USC sucks, blah blah

Big12 buds.... TX sucks, OK down, blah blah blah. TCU and WVU are smacked by reality.

SEC buds.... Obviously we're still the best, but Bama had an off day. UGA is overated, UF is struggling with MAC and FCS schools, Auburn and Ark, well......, UT uhhh, TAMU got lucky...

ACC buds.... FSU overated and Jimbo not that good, Miami bottoming out awaiting sanctions that will arrive in 5-10 years..... Clemson overhyped, GT down..... VTback down to earth....

Big 10 buds..... OSU lucky, UM, MichSt, Neb, Wisc, all overated.

Sooooo. With everyone having a down year, that must explain why we are in the NC... heard that from so many sides..

Back to the ACC topic.... If FSU, Miami, VT, GT, and Clemson can get their sexy back, it's a damn good FB conference. FSU and Clemson seem to be going in the right directioin. Miame, VT, GT... welll...

Worst case scenario is GT bolts along with UVA for the B10. FSU and Clemson for the B12 and NCST and VT to the B12. The rest of the football BE schools slide into the BE and the Catholic BE schools merge with the upper tier A10 schools. We can then barter a new deal using the B12 ACC and BE/A10 against each other. We could probably get the ACC down to 3 games and add the UM game back.

The B10 is Captain Ahab and ND is Moby Dick. They'll never catch us. The ironic thing is if that all happens the B10 positions itself as the weakest of the 4 power conferences for the near future, and as the media market changes the B10 network becomes less powerful. Long term their crappy on the field product will mean less money.

So by all means Delany proceed. You can't win and we can't lose.

Mark my words, the U will be back in the next two years. They have so much sick talent on that team. Everyone is a freshmen/sophomore. They were predicted to go 4-8 this year.

Duke Johnson is unreal. So are their CB's. They will be sick in two years.

We are the golden goose. The Big Ten definitely wants us in their conference because we are a perfect geographic and academic fit. It would not surprise me in the least if the SEC and ACC push to get to 16, because it would force the PAC-12 to go to 16, and then some middle of the country conference to materialize out of the remnants of the Big 12. I don't think it is really up for debate that if we are forced to join a conference, then we will be joining the Big Integer. Every day that passes it seems like we are inching closer and closer to the superconferences, which is unfortunate.

B-b-but I thought Nebraska were the best travelers in all of college football?

They do travel well (know a few folks going myself), but Wisc. and Nebraska are just so mediocre that there just isn't the drive to get to Indianapolis. I think they're all holding out for the Rose Bowl.

I don't really want to second guess Jack swarbrick and im sure he probably looked into the possibility but why didn't we try to join the B1G the same way we did the ACC? I know they only want us as a full member but i can't imagine that the way delaney is expanding (purely for monetary gain) he would turn down ND in all sports but football with 5 B1G games yearly. The ratings this year on nbc and abc drive this point home. ND/USC was the most watched college football game is 6 years and it's due entirely to the unique national draw of ND.

Just don't want the ACC to implode and we get stuck joining the B1G fully or playing sun belt teams to fill out future schedules.

The BIG10 wants in 100% on all sports. They don't like our NBC contract and would stick us as a regional team like UM or MSU. The reality is I would rather join the BIG12 than stay with the BIG10. Seems like we don't have a much of a choice if all these teams to the BIG10 are true.
