Nope.

This kid's thread gets bumped because he spurned ND for FSU....

He wanted to be at ND, but was swayed by the allure of FSU and their track program.

So! For those who pay attention, ND has done overwhelmingly well.... WITHOUT Darby

you really think that? I despise FSU with a passion but Darby is going to be really good.

You're just trying to build FSU as a decent team, when, in fact, they are an above average team at best...

Enjoy your win over LSU, but don't get outta hand

Overrated player on overrated team is fitting

Their defense is sick, and he's on the 2 deep. We wanted him BADLY. No way is he overrated.

ANd anyway, how can anyone even tell, 5 games into his career? If that were the case, we'd be saying Manti was overrated, Everett was overrated, Troy was overrated, Tuitt was overrated, etc etc etc...

Darby has a chance to be really good and so does FSU; it is a wise man who plays in the real world rather than in one of his manufactured denials.

Sour grapes might apply, pathetically, when one lacks in an area, but ND has Russell, Shumate, Jackson ALL of whom show real demonstrations of becoming excellent and beyond. Atkinson and Brown and Lo Wood all show signs of capable players as well. That's six at least. What are we crying about?

I am sure someone has said it already but, taking shots at a teenager is a bit weak. He's not an ex-girlfriend or an ex-wife for that matter.

I remember when I was choosing between schools and it was one of the hardest things I had to decide. (Wait listed at ND so it quickly could have been the easiest decision of my life)

Lay off the kid. Get on FSU for consistently being overrated, fine. But come on, lads.

Darby is a hell of a player. If he ended up coming here, he'd be starting opposite of Jackson over Russel.

Yes ND offers an incredible education, better than almost any D-1 school, including Ivy League schools, but when people continue to put down kids for choosing other schools we are starting to sound like the SC fans I have to put up with in SoCal.

And Mark Stoops just left FSU to be the HC at Kentucky. #PoorLifeDecisions

That could happen to anyone (and who knows what jobs will come hard after Diaco). Darby is doing fine, won ROY, and I wish him the best. Just because he liked FSU over ND doesn't mean it was a terrible decision.

Darby will be really, really good....But one thing I noticed watching him, he doesn't like to tackle. At all.

Now, i've watched about 3 FSU games, so I could be missing some stuff...but from what I saw, he had kinda a "deion-esque" approach to bringing guys down.

That would not have worked with the way we play.

Same disclaimer, I can't claim to have seen him play a ton of football, but I always had that concern about him. I always wanted Poole more than Darby because I thought a big, strong corner like him was better for our system. (Still wish we'd gotten Poole, even with KVR tearing it up for us this year.) I might go so far to say that, on the strength of his tackling and physicality, KVR would have started over Darby for us this year. *GASP*

Darby better hope that Jimbo finds a good DC to replace Stoops, because he needs to get drafted. He didn't go to FSU to play school.

I'll make one more comment about this notion.

I think you can say that a kid who goes to Notre Dame or Stanford is interested in getting a good education. I don't believe you can say the converse...that a kid who goes to FSU or Michigan isn't interested in getting an education. I don't think that's fair.

And I wouldn't imply such a thing if a kid picked Michigan over ND. But Darby decommited from ND, which offers the best African-American degree value in CFB, for FSU, which offers the 4th worst African-American degree value in CFB. They only graduate 45% of their African-American players, for God's sake.

In this case, I feel pretty comfortable assuming that academics did not play a prominent role in Darby's ultimate decision. That, or he was sold a load of bullsh!t about Myron Rolle.

A football player can get an excellent education at FSU. They don't always, but they can. I refuse to presume to know what is in Darby's mind.
