Yea, thats a pretty ridiculous point. Saying that is we took Treadwell over EO that are defense would somehow be comparable to WV's is insane.

I didn't say I'd take EO over LT. Let's assume we've got 4 spots left, and EO wants in immediately. Do we take him? Maybe. At least we should give it serious thought, since DL is a major need for us, and he's a solid 4:s: recruit with significant upside potential. We'd obviously hold 2 of the remaining spots for AQM and Redfield, which means one of either Treadwell or Folston gets left out.

And OMM didn't say we'd suddenly be WVU if we passed on EO. It's about priorities; defense wins championships, and DL is our #1 position of need. We're full at WR. Yes, LT is a better prospect overall, but you can't recruit with a blind eye toward the areas of need on your depth chart.

No offense but Tuitt and Nix are rolling right now.

And they both may be gone after 2013. Gotta look further ahead than one year.

Well your specific statement was that "I think I would rather have EO for our 4th and final spot than a skill guy Treadwell or folston. And I strongly disagree. I will agree that defense wins championships but what you are implying is that EO is that missing piece. AQM is the missing piece not EO. Now I have no idea of what the staff plans on doing but if we keep Mattingly we probably wont even be going after EO thats how important they feel it is.

Per coaching staff who is going all out to land this kid, he is very good.

Just about every young receiver struggles with route running. Floyd was not great at it when got to ND.
Yep, but Treadwell isn't in the same league as Mike coming out of high school. Treadwell is one of the top WR inthis extremely poor WR class.

Yeah for sure... and he still isn't great at it if we're being honest. Golden Tate is just now starting to learn how to run routes at even an acceptable level... and he won the Biletiotioejnoekoff Award.

Can Treadwell at least visit first before having some stupid debate about taking him over some other recruit.

My post:

I think I'd rather take Ogundeko as our potential 4th and final recruit than a second skill guy (Treadwell or Folston). DL is one of our few positions of genuine need.

I suppose "4th and final" implies the order of commitments, so that's poor wording on my part. I would never advocate taking EO over LT directly; the situation I had in mind was the one I described in my previous post above. Assuming we've got 4 spots (which may very well not be the case), if EO wants in before Treadwell and Folston decide... what do we do? You could make a strong argument for taking him, which necessarily shuts out one of the two skill guys.

Off the top of my head AJ Green is the only polished (saying this loosely) route runner I remember coming out of high school.

Gotcha Whisky, that makes more sense. Sherm, the topic of this conversation wasn't is Treadwell better than floyd. We started that convo in Treadwell's thread and got great feedback. Is Treadwell able to contribute right away and I think if you asked numerous people around the program and all scouting agencies they would say YES. He is the best receiver recruit that we've had since Floyd and he is straight ballin right now.

Lol. Good point. I can see both sides of this debate ... I'm certainly concerned about DL depth and I think the last couple years have proven that it is the most important position group, but I'm not sure we need Ogundeko in addition to AQM, Matuska and Rochell, not if it costs us a talent like Treadwell when we are hurting for star power, if not pure depth, at outside receiver. Tough, tough call.

But a lot has to happen before we know if it will even come to that. I'm going to back away from this one.

TJ Jones is the best one we have had in a while. He is improving other parts of his game now to become a really good college WR, but he ran great routes in HS.

Somewhat off topic but look at Dorial. Not only the number one wr but number one overall recruit, averages 29 yards receiving a game.

These kids are physically ready as far as speed and strength but have a lot to learn about being an every down receiver.

My guess is Treadwell will be no different.

Floyd wasn't even good at route running until his junior year, when BK came in and saw that Charlie was partial to the "go-routes and slants" route tree.

I'm also seeing a ton of effort to get YAC. He is pretty tough to bring down.

Clemson and Florida are clear leaders. Will announce at Under Armor AA Game.

With Florida on the rise (great season and huge win over FSU), and Clemson suffering big time decommits the past week (as well as getting a beat down from their in state rival), I would tend to think Florida is in the driver's seat. Unless Dabo gets the wallet out.

I heard Carl Lawson had a great trip to Clemson this past weekend and Chizik is gone...just saying.

Does this mean Mattingly will be staying Irish?

No, I don't think so. I believe Mattingly visited UCLA just this weekend. Unless he reaffirmed yesterday or today and I just haven't heard about it, things are still up in the air with Mattingly.

Clemson, Florida finalists for Ogundeko - Football Recruiting - East Region Blog - ESPN

Ebenezer Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) is down to two schools.

The ESPN 150 defensive end with more than 20 offers has two schools at the top: Clemson and Florida. They are now the only two schools he is looking at.

"Down to those 2," Ogundeko wrote in a text message.

Ogundeko's last two official visits went to the Tigers and Gators, and the official visit to Clemson helped the Tigers catch the Gators at the top of Ogundeko's list.

Clemson assistant coach Marion Hobby made an in-home visit with Ogundeko, the No. 1 player in New York, this week.

"Just things about the campus. The coaching staff and distance. And of course playing time," Ogundeko said of the conversation with Hobby.

Syracuse assistant coach John Anselmo was also in to visit with Ogundeko this week, and as his first BCS offer, he will still officially visit Syracuse the weekend of Dec. 7.

The Gators are supposed to visit with Ogundeko on Friday.

Him and Carl Lawson got a long really well and had a good time at Clemson this past weekend. Would be pretty sweet for clemson to get those tow.

Would be even sweeter if Clemson kept Nkemdiche and Elijah Daniel. Lawson has major character issues. Kids a beast but I wouldn't want him on my team.
