Love the looks on our boys' faces in that ICON video while celebrating. Like kids on Christmas morning. And they truly love their coach, which is so great to see.

Great win.

On a different note....this Widdick kid is for real. Has a cannon for an arm, should be some great battles between him and Golson over the next couple years.

You're not kidding. That kid is going to be a stud. He showed great composure in the pocket under pressure and threw a few bombs. It was very immpressive in person.

Gameday showed his highschool tape yesterday and he had some 60 yard strikes. Kids a baller.

Notre Dame finished the season beating nine bowl-eligible teams. By comparison, Alabama: five. Georgia: four.

NCAAF Irish prevent more BCS chaos - ESPN

The Irish kill you with a thousand paper cuts. Or goal-line stands. You don't realize the blood loss until you look at the scoreboard.

There was no USC postgame outrage. The Trojans knew how and why they had been beaten. And when you asked star wide receiver Marqise Lee whether Notre Dame was the No. 1 team in the country, the answer came easily.

"Yeah, they did a great job," he said.

And when USC linebacker Hayes Pullard was asked the same question, he answered, "Most definitely."

Better than Oregon?

"Yes," said Pullard, whose Trojans had lost to the Ducks 62-51. "Better."

This may have already been discussed but pretty cool.

Upon reaching the visitors locker room after Saturday's win, Kelly greeted a group of players who were, in his words, singing and dancing and laughing. He said a few words to them before presenting the game ball to Theo Riddick, who had carved up the Trojans for 146 rushing yards.

Then Te'o, the leader who spurned USC four years ago for Notre Dame, who spurned the NFL last season for this moment, stood up unexpectedly. He said a few words himself, these ones about his coach, and then he presented Kelly with a game ball of his own. Teammates called it a speechless moment.

Holy **** guys.

The atmosphere at the stadium was amazing last night. Us ND fans drowned out the scum fans easily. It was incredible.

Yeah man! I think the Let's go Irish chant was started at 3 different locations during the game. One time, it was really loud and the players were pumped on the bench. That was pretty cool.

I love at about the two minute mark. Golson is drumming on the wall and continues to drum even when getting a hug from Alford.

How fitting that the game was ultimately determined by a great goal line stand. A national audience has now seen this D determine the outcome of a game with a goal line stand more than once. WOW!

Kelly is a players coach. The more I see of him, the more I feel like these guys would each give a piece of themselves to win for him. He's made us into a team, and now it's only a matter of time.

For consideration and reflection: The locker room just after Kelly's first win as the ND head coach.

Possibly the wrong video? This is last season's BG game, no?

Kiffin deservedly getting beaten up by the LA Times. Part of the article is a poll, in which 77% are saying he should not return as coach.

Lane Kiffin's snap decisions all go wrong for USC - latimes.com

I love this:

"We had a shot," Trojans Coach Lane Kiffin said late Saturday.

But they missed that shot. Again. In particular, Kiffin missed that shot. Again. The coach who has enraged fans with his play-calling and game management unfurled more mind-bending strategy that turned this game on its ear hole during the fourth-quarter goal-line sequence found in those eight snaps.

The Trojans could have beaten unbeaten Notre Dame. They could have kept the top-ranked Irish from playing for their first national championship in 24 years. They could have saved their season and set the course for their future.

Instead, in eight snaps, they ended their regular schedule mired deep in the muck of five losses and heaps of disappointment and a torrent of boos. Lots and lots of boos, and if I had been in the stands, I would've been booing too.

Had to work at 5:30 this morning it was a little rough since I wasn't able to calm down to fall asleep. Last time I looked at the clock it was 1:30am.

Love this site, love our Irish! Bring on the SEC. Miami here we come!

There was a point in the week where some of you guys were talking about the parts of BK's Tuesday presser that were edited out. Can someone now elaborate and share what those were?

Appreciate it...

It's Kelly celebrating with the team just after the purdue game in 09 on my browser.

Edit: Try it now?

Something's wrong here. For a split second, it shows the video you embedded, but then it immediately redirects to the '11 BG game. Bizarre lol

The poll is now up to 78% despite my vote to retain Kiffin.

We should all be voting in support of Kiffin.

Plaschke is beating up Kiffin for the Red Zone calls in the goal line stand. He rightfully points out ND had a similar goal line stand against SU but ignores the point that ND has been tough all season in the Red Zone against run or pass.

Russell had two PI calls but Wittek wasn't throwing the ball to the outside corner where Lee had position. Honestly was that Kiffin's fault?

Diaco guessed correctly that SC's big, stong, but young QB would try to sneak to use his big body AND to minimize an exchange fumble. ND's Front Seven did what a goal line unit is supposed to do.

Diaco also guessed right on crashing both safeties in a pincer twice stuffing the run. If Wittek had faked the handoff he could have waltzed into the end zone on a keeper. With a more experienced QB that might have been the call. Of course a more experienced QB would have thrown the fades into the corner.

Kelly won the game but got bashed heavily for not running Riddick into the goal line instead of throwing to Goodman which was a money play all season. SC was looking for Riddick, Kelly crossed them up but Golson threw an uncatchable ball. Right play, poor QB execution by both QBs at the goal line on pass play.

Plaschke trashes Kiffin for throwing to the FB instead of the incredibily talented SC WRs. ND doubled up on the WRs but neglected to cover the FB. Great call by Kiffin right up to the point where Wittek threw the ball at his feet. Good call but again poor execution.

I don't like Kiffin in general but Plaschke's piece was pile on after the fact knee jerk reaction. It ignored player execution, the lack of execution by Wittek and the superior execution by ND defense, one of the best defenses in the country.

Yup, Plaschke started off on the right track but then went the other route.

Replay on ESPNU at 9:30.

Well, I'm not betting $2 billion again on ND to score better than 25.5 points when Kelly keeps showcasing Brindza's leg.

I beginning to suspect there's a conspiracy to drive up TV ratings through a succession of close games.

Kelly's aversion to style points warrants an NCAA investigation of Kelly's collusion with that notorious vbooky cartel, Jade Gibblets.

One season of disappointing losses is not enough to fire Lane Kiffin. It seems people forget that he's had to navigate through sanctions, and he team has suffered depth wise because of it. They still had a winning season and the recruiting is still very good. Other than his silly antics, there are no concrete reasons to fire him.

4 of their losses were to ranked teams. 2 of which were rivals. 1 was a high octane offense (that only does well against average defenses). The other was to a stanford team that has had a psychological hold over SC for last couple years.
