Wooly,

Florida did not play Miami this year. Do you mean Mizzou?

Correct, but Georgia is.

D@mn it!!! Ok. This should be right.

As of today, games played against top 50 offenses

Notre Dame - 2 (Oklahoma, Miami)

Bama - 2 (TAM, Tenn)

Georgia - 1 (Tennessee)

Florida - 3 (Tenn, TAM, Georgia)

Oregon - 3 (Fresno St, Arizona St, USC)

All teams will be playing a top 50 offense this week. This shows that the ESPN talking heads have no idea what they are talking about. Furthermore, we have played more top 50 defenses than all of the top 5 teams.

Thinks we will win by at least 10 points.

Also pointed out via a poll that nearly half of the people polled said this college football season was good and it was because of Notre Dame.

Cowherd really pumping up ND right now... just spent about 5 minutes talking about ND, their impact on college football, doing things the right way, etc.

About to have Rick Reilly on soon.

I like him, but he dogged ND bad pre-season. Hope he's admitting how wrong he was.

Updates on Rick Reilly interview would be much appreciated. I'm interested to see what Reilly says. Maybe I shouldn't be, but I am.

Very short portion of segment was spent on ND. Basically admitted he was wrong and immediately brought up his ND/USC wager. Said he would be polishing helmets on Wednesday. All in all, nothing to see here.

Went to O'Brien ans PSU (said he should be coach of the year) next then to the NFL.

It's funny because Vegas had the pre-season line for PSU at 7 wins... they finished with 8 including a loss to Ohio. How is that COY worthy?

Bottom line is that expectations were deflated by how bad they sucked to open the season... what O'Brien did isn't even one of the top 5 coaching jobs this year IMO. They only marginally exceeded expectations.

I completely agree.

Pretty accurate rankings. The only thing I would change would be put Florida and TAM ahead of ND.

mmmhm...maybe you should worry about Les, and throw some love his way...

is it me, or is the SEC...the entire conference...coming off a little worried?

I kind of agree with Skip Bayless in that I think Texas A&M is playing the best now. As of now, I think they could beat any team including us. And before you disagree, you have to mention if you actually have seen A&M play in the last couple weeks.

I watched aTm against both 'Bama and LSU. If Manziel's on, they can probably hang with any team in the country. But their defense isn't good enough to carry them when Manziel stumbles.

According to FEI, they've got the 2nd ranked offense but only the 31st ranked defense. ND's much more balanced at 8th and 2nd respectively.

I'd much rather play aTm in Miami than 'Bama.

I disagree, simply because our defense makes any offense look average. And yes, I've watched as much A&M as possible all season because it's fun to watch Johnny Football. It's like watching a football version of Loony Toons.

ND starts fast, and wouldn't let Johnny Football get off to the fast start that Bama did (A&M won that game with a first quarter onslaught, and holding on late). Bama was obviously sluggish after the game against LSU. ND wouldn't have that problem.

Still got the Irish (in a close one) over A&M.

Guess I am the only ND fan who doesn't think they are the best team in the nation. Happy they going for the title but don't think they are the best team.

I truly believe this team has 8-4 talent but had a magical season. Our D is great but our O is too inconsistent.

I don't think they are the best team. But that doesn't matter. Were the New York Giants the best team when they won Super Bowls? Was Kemba Walker's UCONN team the best when they went through the NCAA tournament? No way in hell.

Notre Dame isn't playing to be "the best team," and they aren't really even playing for bragging rights to be the best team. They are playing for a national championship, and it's totally different.

EDIT: It's annoying to see the ESPN derps--errr, EXPERTS lead their shows with "well Notre Dame is #1...but are they the best team?" "Ah no way! SEC! SEC! SEC! FAP FAP FAP" WHO CARES?! Every year we talk about how great the regular season in college football is--and often refer to it as a playoff. If you don't show up on any given Saturday, you can lose. In a playoff, that's call elimination. Unfortunately when it comes to the SEC the media feels the need to make it a double-elimination tournament. Notre Dame didn't lose, so they have made the equivalent of a bracket run to the national championship. Now you see a team like Florida complain about not being in the game and well, sorry, don't lose and you won't have a problem..

All about context. Look at Georgia's schedule and tell me we don't go at absolute worst 10-2 against that junk.

Look at Florida's schedule... we could've done as bad as 7-5. But as for talent? On D we have a high 1st LB, high 1st DE, late first DT, late round DE, a midround OLB, a midround S, two CBs with high potential but I can't project, another S I can't project yet, and 2 LBs who won't get drafted. That's 3 first rounders and likely 9 NFL players. On O? An improving college QB who won't get drafted cuz of stature, a top pick TE, 2 OL who will get drafted... one of which pretty high, meh WRs, a late round RB. Yeah, our offensive talent is pretty average. As a team though? Definitely better than your standard 8-4 team in a major conference (i.e. Penn State or North Carolina or Northwestern).
