We have greater needs in other areas IMHO. Don't care at all for the drama with this guy. We honestly have bigger fish to fry, like trying to get one of each between Moore and Alexander. If we end up somehow with this kid, then awesome. But in all honesty, there are way too many other guys out there that piqué my interest more.

What is "all the drama?" Not trying to argue or push buttons, because I haven't followed this thread as closely as others. But if you are referring to the fact that he has pushed back/cancelled an announcement twice now or that he has had 20 different top-3/5/6/12/2 sets of schools, I would say that he is avoiding more drama after his first decommitment. Better than going through with his announcements and decommiting another time or two.

But if I'm off-base, please educate me on what I've missed.

EDIT: I wasn't very clear, but basically I'm trying to say that I think delaying/cancelling a couple of announcements is a way of AVOIDING drama, not creating it.

Ugh, don't understand this. Let him play a pass rushing DE. We need D-linemen.

a pass rushing DE is the CAT linebacker in this defense. They now have 2 guys in Randolph and Mattingly that might be able to play that position. They are not going to take a CAT that they don't think is a great fit or a great player because of needs at other positions. They like Muhammad and maybe even Hooper a lot more and they probably don't want a kid who is pretty wishy washy it seems. That last part is pure speculation of course but the first couple of sentences I think are supported by some evidence.

Do you guys think we will try and recruit him hard at the end of the cycle if things are not looking good with Muhammad?

No, based on last week's Tunnel Vision we've moved on from Ebenezer. Muhammad, Savaiinea, Hooper, Deon Hollins and Victor Egu are the linebackers we are still involved with. Ebenezer and Trey Johnson were specifically mentioned as guys we are no longer recruiting, and the other five as guys we are still recruiting. So I guess that if Muhammad falls through, we probably go for one of Savaiinea, Hooper or Hollins. Egu is more of an ILB (so is Savaiinea, but I think he could play OLB as well ... not sure if the staff agrees though). I wonder if Egu may be insurance against an Anzalone decommit? Just speculating.

Ogundeko (0.8947) is rated slightly higher than Mattingly (0.8898), but I'd still much rather keep Mattingly for his versatility. Not to mention that Ogundeko just doesn't seem like good fit to me.

I agree 100%.

Mattingly is so solid in open space/coverage and has outstanding hands. I would rather we keep Danny Football then switch to Mr. Scrooge.
