Rose Bowl offers no incentive.
Win= "well you were supposed to, doesn't prove anything"
Lose= "we were right about ND all along"

He's talking about the media, and all the haters. And he is spot on. He's not saying it doesn't mean anything. He's just pointing out the Rose Bowl is the worst option.

Why do you care? We started ranked 24/25/unranked. The B1G took a a dump on it's self. BYU isn't going to win 10 games. The guys in the media that have done the work this season know ND has a better resume than KSU, but the Big 12 is ranked the toughest conference by the computers. We are also getting tons of love from the computers. Yet, according to humans and coaches, Oregon is the best team in the nation at this point and will stay there until they lose. We're not the only one getting screwed. Making the case for ND to be at the top, goes hand in hand with making the argument for KSU.

Enough with this hyperbole... it's pissing me off.

We are going to the National Title Game.

and we are going to win it.

Haha. I completely agree.

Either one of Oregon or KSU loses and we are in.

Or it gets to the nitty gritty and voters are staring dead at a 12-0 KSU team and 12-0 ND team. ND wins that battle. ND/Oregon is much bigger than KSU/Oregon. It would be the new blood vs. "The" blue blood of college football. The ratings would be monumental.

Last scenario. We lose at SC and we win the Rose Bowl.

I would be very dissapointed to play Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. So our team busts it butt all year and gets to a 12-0 record and we get to play Nebraska?! No way, I would hate this match-up. Win proves very little, loss supports overrated theory of haters.

I would love to play the best option from the SEC if that is even possible. As already mentioned, Bama, Georgia, Florida would all be great matchups and a mesuring stick to see how ND can play with "big boys." True or not the perception is that the SEC elite are the best teams in the country. Would be an awesome chance to see how we stack up against the "best of the best."

Of course this is all based on the falicy that we will not make it to the National Title game :)

You clearly didn't understand the point of view my post was from (dooshbag haters that say this every damn week)

I got you. I mean it chaps my a$$ that we may get left out but ND will not go 12-0 and not make the title game over a 12-0 KSU. I just don't see it happening. I think it's a bigger story in the media right now that ND "could" get shut out while there is still 3 undefeated teams. I think the media will bend over backwards for ND to play in the NCG if they go 12-0. Things change night by night and week by week in college football.

I care because I'd rather hear the haters and the media say, "Wow, they took it to an SEC powerhouse", rather than "ND beat a mediocre Wisconsin". I'll even take,,,, haters still hating saying "It's a down year for the SEC getting beat by ND". Still helps recruiting more than B10 game. I care because regardless of the hater/media thing, I'd prefer to see ND play the best, and beat the best. A close loss to Bama personally is better than ground and pound win over Wisconsin/Nebraska. And simply, I want to see how we would stack up against "America's elite SEC". Just tired of hearing all the SEC BS here in GA.

I'm sorry I do not agree that a 12-1 season with a loss to an SEC team is better than 13-0. 13-0 is 13-0. I don't need ESPN sporticial (cross between sport/political) pundits or mouth breathing fans to verify this ND team. I watch an unbelievable amount of college football and I know that this ND team is one of the best, if not the best in the country at doing what it takes to win a National title, which is winning every game. SEC bias is what it is. It will continue to wan now that Texas A&M has come into the SEC and shook it up.

I'm not looking for an argument. I understand your side, I also respect it, but I just don't agree with it. 13-0 still gives us a great shot at an AP title. If we get that we'll still be considered 2012 National Champion for rest of time.

I want KSU to win out and Oregon to lose a game. I would much rather play K-State than Oregon.

But we need to beat Wake Forest before anything. Don't forget about that

3- Rose Bowl vs. Big Ten

5- Fiesta Bowl vs. Alabama

My preferences.

I'm not sure why anyone wants a piece of 'Bama in a bowl game when they underachieve and don't make the NCG:

YIKES.

If we are talking about the possibility of KSU and Oregon, keep an eye on UGA making a turn. The losses are late in the season and with UGA right there (assuming the win out to include the SEC title game), they are a possible NCG opponent as well.

If not in the NCG, I want Bama. If we beat them and KSU squeaks by Oregon, there'd be an outside shot that the AP could pick us as champions.

I would first rather play KSU then Nebraska and Florida in that order. I do not, I repeat DO NOT want Oregon. ND is not built to beat that type of team yet.

Be careful what you wish for, Nebraska will still be atough game its not like we walked all over Michigan, Purdue, BYU, or Pitt. i think if no NC game go to the BCS bowl you stand a competitive chance of winning-Nebraska>KSU>Alabama-Georgia, just sayin. Even if you go undefeted without the"BCS title" -this team would go down in history and talked about all the time-still would be quite an accomplishment, lets get through Wake and Usc first.-I still wouldnt be all that stunned if all 3 of ND, KSU, and Oregon lost before end of year.

Well we would have to win the AP poll for it to be valid in comparison... and that ain't happenin.

but I say because our Irish aren't self-etitled brats and ND signed the same BCS contract SC did... only ND would honor it.

;)

My pref:
1. KSt in NC
2. Oregon in NC
3. Bama in NC
4. Bama in BCS
5. UGA in BCS
6. FSU in BCS
7. Neb/Wis in BCS

Regarding SEC bias... I hate it as much as anyone. The only way it stops is for other teams to start beating them in NCs and BCSs. If we don't make it to a NC, I for one would like ND to smack so SEC @$$.

ND To Fiesta Say The Believers

I wrote that thread title back on 9/16/12, two months ago when Jerry Palm was the first to forecast ND was BCS bound to the Fiesta Bowl.

Now, after the greatest day in college football since 1/2/78, Palm forecasts ND to play Alabama in the NC Game.

Back on1/2/78 5th ranked ND demolished undefeated, #1 Texas 38-10 in the Cotton Bowl while Lou Holtz's Arkansas missing 3/4 of his backfield sent home for disciplinary issues knocked off undefeated #2 OU by 25 points in the Orange Bowl and UW knocked off Michigan in the Rose Bowl and a once beaten Alabama beat a lackluster OSU in the Sugar.
The next morning in the Final Poll ND was #1 jumping over #4 Alabama which they still whine about today.

ND had the policy of playing the highest ranked team available in a bowl while the SEC looked to showcase their champion against an easier opponent. ND's policy and superior performance against a much better team swayed the voters overwhelmingly.

Sunday morning for the first time since Novmeber 1993 the #1 Light atop Grace Hall will be lite. It only burned for a week until BC turned off the juice. It will stay on this time! The Dark Ages Are Over!

Palm's Computer predicts this years bowls as of 11/7/12 this year's bowls teams will be:

NCG ND v ALA
Fiesta KSU v Clemson
Sugar LSU v OU
Orange FSU v UL
Rose NEB v ORE

Other ND opponents:
Heart of Dallas Purdue vs. Baylor
Gator Michigan State vs. Mississippi State
Capital One Michigan vs. Georgia
Sun Miami (Fla.) vs. UCLA
Kraft Fight Hunger Stanford vs. Navy
Alamo West Virginia vs. USC
Poinsettia San Diego State vs. BYU

Palm does not project PIT, BC, or WF to a bowl game. PIT is 4-6 and would have to beat both Rutgers and USF to become eligible. BC is 2-9 and already scratched. WF is 5-6 and would have to beat Vandy next week to become bowl eligible.

Obviously ND has to beat Southern Cal and Ala has to beat Auburn and then UGA in the SEC Championship to meet in the NCG.

A complete list of bowl opponents is at the link:

Mea Culpa if anyone's heart skipped a beat with the title

Mea Culpa if anyone's heart skipped a beat with the title

... I want to give Palm credit for recognizing ND's relevance early on. So I've kept this thread alive each week since 9/16.

The voters have dragged their feet consistently but Palm was ahead of the curve.

Last week he moved ND up to the Rose and this week ND is Miami Bound.

Jerry Palm, the computer guru, tonight forecast ND headed to the Fiesta Bowl on the heels of the dominant MSU game.

Interestingly, he has OU in the Championship Game, and UM and USC in the Rose Bowl.

Ten of ND's opponents are forecast to bowl at this point. Everybody but Pitt and BC are pegged for the post-season.

There are still 9 games to play. Knocking off UM Saturday would go a long way toward making that forecast reality.

Ironic that we can say the Believers had ND going to the NCG. Why settle for the Fiesta. They weren't believing.

I don't see how all of these guys keep projecting LSU into the Sugar Bowl over Florida. Florida beat LSU and has a much better resume than LSU.

Possibly forecasting a loss to FSU, would be my guess. Florida has not looked hot lately and FSU has the athletes to take it to them.
