Alot of the island players are just amazingly hard hitting and intense. When I was young I lived out there and that is where I started playing football. I remember how intense the locals were in so many ways especially when it came to hitting in practice. When I moved back to the mainland, I continued to play and I played with some good guys, but I will never forget how hard the island guys hit. I'm excited to see him play as well.

yeah the difference a legit pass rusher can give your team is immeasurable, Tuck was that kind of guy, also abiamiri was a stud. even Trevor Laws and Pat Kuntz made a big difference.

EJ and Kap are good players especially for the 3-4 but i am waiting for that next Tuck type pass rusher, i think schwenke can be that guy.

gonna miss williams big time though.

Why is everyone so high on Schwenke? Did he do something awesome that I missed? (serious question, I had barely heard about this guy until recently and he doesn't look like a highly touted recruit)

5.7 3 star on rivals

same rating as many of our current commits this class : anthony rabasa, tony springmann, and jarrett grace.

Kona was one of Hawaii's top football recuits last year. I believe he was a 4 star DE by most major recruiting sites. Kona's strength in High School was he was so athletic (football basketball and rugby) strong and quick off the ball. Kona was lil small and lanky 6-5 220 but he seems to of filled out quite well.

I hate that he used a year of eligibility last year. The staff wanted him to sit until Tuitt ran into some trouble, along with injuries on the DL. In I remember correctly.

Yeah, I remember reading this too. If we'd gotten the Armsteads he could maybe still take that RS year this year, but it looks like he'll have to contribute.

I know Nix had a great game Saturday, but did Kona get any reps? I'd love to keep fresh legs in there relentlessly pressuring.

I almost get the feeling like people are reaching for things to criticize on this board lately.

Is that how it works? After a clear victory nothing gets criticized and after an ugly win or loss everything gets criticized?

Whoa! tko simply asked if Kona got any reps. The announcers don't identify most of the substitutions and the UND participation report only lists who played, not how much.

tko asked and NDinL.A. answered.

If that's the case then I apologize. I just see a ton of threads full of "why didn't ___ happen!" nonsense. I've never read anything from tko that rubbed me the wrong way, so perhaps I lack reading comprehension (queue eborica or whatever).

I left my stupid roster sheet at work and NBC fails to let the audience know who makes any plays. I missed Kona and will look for him Saturday night. I was too busy watching Carlo get rented, LOL.

From what I noticed from the upper deck, Kona did get quite a few reps (as NDinLA mentioned), but my perception (which could be wrong) was that Springman was in there more than Kona. Both held their ground and didn't really get beat, but I'll say that Springman was more effective. That being said, it is hard to tell them apart since they both have the long hair hanging out of their helmets - it's like they're twins.

I have been getting the same feeling the past couple days as well Buster, but I dont think tko's post falls into that category.

Regarding Kona, no, but I was critical of Carlo. I've since cooled and will see what adjustments are made Saturday night. I already put my roster sheet in my work bag just to check on players. For example, i had no fkn clue who that red-headed sasquatch was on the defensive end and i also had to look up jalen brown.

No way I was the only one seeing this guy do some serious damage to their O-line when he was in, right?
