It's sad when keeping a game competitive into the 4th quarter is acceptable ND football. I think the team is talented enough to win 11 games next year.
I think the team is talented enough to win 11 games next year.
I agree on the talent level. I just watched the first 5 minutes of the USC game for the first time. Had not seen any highlights or anything, just knew the final score. Except for Jimmy's bone head interception, we've got the talent to match up with anyone in the country. Confidence does some pretty amazing things for young people. Beat scUM in the Pig House and handle our business against a Michigan State team that is losing its QB and RB, and you wait and see...
11 wins. Beat SC (No Cushing, no Mauluaga-are they really that invincible next year?). Couldn't tell you who the loss would be, but saying 12-0 would get me caned or called an idiot around these parts.
Coach up or coach out, Charlie.
You're my boy, Blanton!
Being a former player 1995-99, I agree that the underclassmen, especially the freshmen show promise to help turn the program around. I can also attest to the attitude of the players and coaches. I was true freshman starting my first game for Coach Holtz and the best team that has played for the Irish since. Winning was not something that we aspired to, it's what your heart and demeanor tell you that it is the only possible outcome. We did lose our 1st game 16-13 to Northwestern and then we lost 41-26 to Ohio State, but we went 9-2 beating Texas and USC in 2 slaughters. Texas had Ricky and USC had KEY, and we handed them their asses, and sent them home Respecting Notre Dame.
We needed that attitude to be reborn. Never was a game over for us at the half. I also agree Coach Weis will be fired if the same play is repeated. This attitude of Winning at all costs must be believed in by 100% of the players and coaches. If not, the cancer eating through Notre Dame Football will only spread.

Holtz was gone by then so stop making sht up.
Holtz would have been there when he was a freshman.
it doesn't matter what you all say is good enough in CW's 5th year. CW called his own shot. What HE said is acceptable of his fifth year is the only standard that matters.... and it was a pretty high one.
Do you think he looked at the schedule before he made the statement? I think he did and knew he should be beating those teams and now he is like I should not have said that...
Maybe, but it certainly doesn't matter. There isn't a coach who is 25-21 over the last four years that would bet his job on battling for a NC. No other coach would be that foolish, unless he had an audience desperate enough to clap after he said it. But, as I have heard on here, stats don't matter if you have "eyeballed" the team he produced.
10-2 and a BCS bowl A$$ wippin! There is NO way they fire a 10-2 coach even after getting destroyed by USC and in the BCS bowl in back-to-back games!
That's a direct shot at me, and I thought we had a truce and were cool by now. So TROLL, I'll tell you again: Your boy Ty's first 7 games WERE NOT better than CW's. And yes, the eyeball test did tell me that, and anyone who truly watches football with a keen eye would tell you that. Not talking about CW's last 2 years, but the first 7 games only. You got burned on that one, yet you still bring it up. Ty's team wasn't kicking ass, they were winning with smoke and mirrors. CW's first team was kicking ass, playing with swagger, took down the #3 team in the nation and took the number one team in the nation (who many were proclaiming to be one of the top teams ever - look it up) to the very last (illegal) play of the game. So yes, I was right then and I'm right now. Sorry troll.
that was not a direct shot at you.. jeez man relax. You are way too touchy. Dude.... relax.
you can be right on that one. first 7 games of CW were better than Ty's. you win. you win a ten year contract.

Article talking about the games next season.....seems to me there is NO reason we should be less that 11-1
Good read, but I think he underestimates UCONN and Nevada, although I do think they'll find a way to win those games. After that bowl game though, I have no idea what to expect from this team next year. If the team that showed up in Hawaii shows up for 12 games next year, they probly will go 11-1 or 10-2. If the team that showed up against USC & Syracuse shows up again next year, they'll be lucky to go 8-4.
