Same thought occurred to me. That and the Brown penalty.

Yeah, originally I thought that was the turning point. Typically, after a play like that (the penalty) you'll see the team who got the break score on the very next play. So after the incompletion, I wasn't surprised that Choice took it the distance. I knew it would all be uphill from there.

One last thing, I saw a teaser on rivals today that said Jones was working with the runningbacks, any news on this?

It was a teaser, and nothing more. Those Rivals folks are such a bunch of bastards. Here's what Ben Ford (whose info is FREE, mind you) has to say:

Wednesday's practice was a real head-turner because Demetrius Jones started it by working with the running backs. Jones, still wearing a red jersey and a wristband with plays on it, ran the gauntlet with the backs. Since Notre Dame already has enough running backs, the reporters had to wonder what was up, but Charlie Weis explained it after practice.

"He was just working on ball possession," Weis said, referencing Jones' two fumbles against Georgia Tech. "That's just the logical thing to do to put an emphasis on ball possession. He went down there for about four or five minutes to go through the gauntlet. No, we're not moving him to running back. You have something that happens and I think part of coaching is addressing those things that happen."

Mystery solved.

So there.

KP, I agree that those were definitely two key junctures. I should say, though, that calling them TURNING points - which I did as well - is a bit misleading, since the game was never really in our favor. But call them tipping points, breaking points, whatever ... things could've gone very differently if we hadn't effed up at those moments.
