I talked to his father yesterday and they have sent a video to ND and they have uploaded his video on scoutingohio.com and youtube. They have searched everywhere for a personal contact number or email for Coach Alfrod but have been unable to find one. Hopefully this kid can get a look.

If you call the football office and say you are a recruit they will put you in contact with the right people. Also if your reaally dedicated I know a couple of the players tweeted pictures of the written offers which had Tonys number on it...

Thanks everyone, I am going to pass the information along to his father and let them do what they want with it.

I do have a question though do you think it is proper or ethical to call Coach Alford out of the blue on a number you found and to try and get recruited. I want this kid a ND but I also do not want to get his kid black listed for breaking an unwritten recruiting rules.

I wouldn't call Alford at that number. Just go the typical way and get into contact with whoever is in charge of recruiting for your region...

I think this class finishes up with Alexander/Moore, Redfield, AQM

Why would it be unethical for a father to try to get his child evaluated for a scholarship? I have a copy of the HS tape of his son, Joey, that Joe Getherall mailed out to college coaches around the country back in '95. Bob Davie and the ND coaches had no knowledge of Joey before getting the tape. They also didn't know they had the tape until Joe called them. They get lots of tapes. They stand a better chance of getting the tape reviewed if a coach knows it's coming.

Use any number you can find to make contact. Get the name of the coach. When they send the tape. Send it certified mail with return receipt card. Call and tell them it's sent. Then follow up to see it was received. And what the next step is and when. Then follow up again with his recent game results. Your marketing a product to a buyer whose time is precious. Respect but be the squeaky wheel. Your friend is looking at closing roughly a quarter of a million dollar deal in the short term and a multimillion R.O.I. The buyer has many prospects to chose from and you're late in the game. Make up the time. Two minute drill. Go obver to the GUG and kick FGs through Kelly's window. (Bring a check book to pay for the broken window.)

If you don't have a contact info simply contact ND at the main number they'll transfer you to the football office. If your shy call Eric Hansen, ND Beat Writer at the South Bend Tribune, 574-235-6112, ehansen@sbtinfo.com. Do it today!

My brother who has very strong "ins" to the Virginia Tech football staff says that they get unsolicited tapes all the time, but, being busy, usually don't look at any of them. The ones they do look at come from coaches in high school that they know who have warned them that they're coming, also from ex-players or other very close persons that they trust.

It is very important to get the word to the staff that a tape is coming and get some support within the Notre Dame or High School coaching community as to why the staff should care. I am wondering why the local coach is not part of this "sell job".

A personal visit MIGHT work if it's done when someone has some time to actually see the player and the coach [or whomever]. BUT THESE GUYS ARE BUSY.

After Saturday's game OU commits Keith Ford and Hatari Bird will both try to flip to ND.

Kelly will advise, "We honored but that train left the station some time ago."

Free e teaser of tunnel vision

Notre Dame Recruiting Insider

In this week's edition of Tunnel Vision, BlueandGold.com provides you with who is at the top of Notre Dame's wish list along with recruiting nuggets on junior and senior targets. Here's a sample.

Malik McDowell: The Top25 blue-chip junior out of Detroit (Mich.) Loyola is not a lock for Michigan. The Wolverines may not even be the leader. Notre Dame has made a serious impression on McDowell, his parents and his coach early in the recruiting process, and look for the Irish to remain one of the favorites until McDowell decides.

Michigan will for sure present competition and McDowell also wants to visits schools such as Alabama and LSU, but Notre Dame is in great shape. McDowell and his family are high on ND's academics, especially how successful African Americans perform.

McDowell enjoyed watching Irish defensive end Stephon Tuitt in person during the Michigan State game in East Lansing. Notre Dame assistant coach Chuck Martin and the rest of the staff have made a good impression on Loyola head coach John Callahan. McDowell's recruitment will be one Notre Dame fans will want to pay attention to.

Alex Anzalone: What would Tunnel Vision be without the weekly note on this Irish pledge? BlueandGold.com can confirm that the Top50 player did talk with Notre Dame this week and still likes the Irish, but the program isn't out of the woods just yet.

He still has some things to consider as Florida made quite the impression when he was in Gainesville for the LSU game, and Notre Dame is looking to firm up a trip back to campus for the Wake Forest game, which he still can't say with 100-percent certainty that he'll make it for. He does want to take his official visit for the football banquet at Notre Dame in December, which he would be absolutely surrounded by Irish commits, but he's also mentioned going back to Florida in December, which he reportedly submitted early enrollee papers to, and it will be making a final decision pretty tight on time.

One Irish commit told BlueandGold.com "I don't even know about him anymore" in regards to what the next move will or won't be, but Notre Dame is keeping the other linebacker targets on the board that have expressed an interest in wanting to visit (for example Victor Egu of De La Salle (Calif.)) just in case any sudden changes are made with time left to spare for National Signing Day if Anzalone was to report to Florida's campus instead for the spring semester.

I wanted this guy to be Irish...

[Gunner Kiel]

Any word on how that ended up?

Good point. Guess you win some, you lose some.

And KeiVarae's playing well enough to take some of the sting out of losing Poole.

Do you think some of those guys that passed on us are wishing they would have picked ND, since we have a true frosh RB starting at CB for us? And Yuri Wright has to be really regretting those tweets.
