Loved the fan support during the game, loved the academic presentation, loved the coaches and how they didn't pressure him to decommit but made him feel wanted, loves the style of play of the defense, could see himself playing with the guys on the team. He is still committed to SC, but "has a lot to think about" moving forward.

Thanks Mike. You're still Top Dog.

Maybe, maybe not. Raved about the visit to 247. Sounds like we made a huge impression in all areas. Still committed, but going to discuss the visit with his parents.

Sounds like the staff and school did their jobs very well. His coming for a visit and having a good time was all we could ask for.

Let's see how it goes.

Not flipping this kid unless USC tanks (2x losses to Oregon, loss to ND, maybe a loss to UCLA or ASU or their bowl)... the bottom line is that Orgeron and Kiffin are master salesmen. They take a pressure approach and it works. They were probably on the phone with Redfield the moment they were allowed to contact him again and I don't see any scenario where he would flip to us that doesn't have us going at least 11-1 with a win over USC + USC having a bad season and showing to be a bunch of frauds.

I get the feeling that he appreciates the authenticity of ND's ways and may even find himself rooting for us in the coliseum.

This one could easily come down to the USC/ND matchup. If he finds himself rooting for us while standing on the USC sidelines then the outcome of the game may not matter.

That being said, I think the odds of USC losing 3 regular season games and missing the BCS are pretty darn good. That could easily mean losing to us and the PAC 10 championship game to finish the season low. That is a big disappointment for a preseason #1.

Although there are plenty of excuses available in that scenario -depth at end of season, losing to two Top 10 or even Top 5 teams, especially if close, isn't that devestating really.

What would their leverage be? If ND is a great team with excellent academics and cool teammates, being forced to go their doesn't sound too bad.

If we steal either Redfield or Hawkins, I'll go bonkers.

Both are amazing talents, and NOTHING is better than swaying commits out of USC.

I just can't see any way we flip him. He isn't one of the commits in jeopardy of losing his spot like other SC kids may be. He's in SC's backyard. He has former teammates on SC. I'm sure he likes what ND has to offer but I wouldn't hold my breath.

dont fall for this troll job Lane is pulling these kids are going to USC.

Here's the thing. There are a certian type of kid that go to ND. If you happen to like those kids, you will feel very comfortable on your visit. This happens at every school to some degree, but ND definitily has its "thing." Not every school is interchangeable. Stanford, K-State, and Michigan are all very different places.

So its not like choosing between Clemson and FSU, or Florida and Georgia. To us a BBall analogy, there is Duke, Kentucky and UNC somewhere in between. ND is more like Duke. Alabama like UK. And USC is kind of like UNC. There is certainly overlap, but there are also cultures that attract kids.

Not saying this kid flips, but it seems kind of conspiratorial to think Kiffin is that far into his head.

Since it takes one to know one, I guess I should heed your troll warning.

Although I don't understand the end game of USC recruits trolling on our turf? USC is full. Who do we have that they are even targeting? At this stage of the game, USC recruits are at risk to switch to ND, I don't see it the other way around.

I'm not saying he is going to flip but all of the interviews he has done have been extremely positive. He even stated in one that he got a lot more out of it than Hawkins did and i think that means something. He also commented on how our gameday atmosphere is better than USC's. He has always talked about us being in his top group and now we blow him away with a visit. I am very happy with where we are.

Every kid wants to go to great football games for free. Lane just lets them do it. Kids get a little excited talk to a reporter and the fan bases start dreaming of them flipping. Well guess what? If they had a high from a visit it wears off and if it doesn't Lane is still not worried because he gets last visit and Ed and Lane are master salesmen. I do think it helps letting these kids visit other places because if Lane wants to drop them he has an easier way out but he is not dropping a kid like Redfield.

Nice reply, Gator!!! Come on, use that 40-year, Florida education that Urban always talked about.

I'll dumb it down. Think Wayne Lyons. The Florida schools could talk all day about thier academics, but in the end of the day, they just aren't Stanford.

ND is differnt from other schools because of the combo of academics, faith, etc. It's not for everyone. It's not necessarily better (depending on your goals, values, preferences). But it is differnt. So while the choice between Florida, Georgia, Alabama, FSU, Clemson, and other schools will generally come down to recent success and salesmenship (unless they are a fan), the choice betweeen those schools and ND or Stanford is a little different.

Right. Everyone agrees that our chances of flipping Redfield are low, and always have been, but Notre Dame is one of those places where it's either for you or it's not; and if it's for you, then it's for you and you don't care about distance and weather and a lot of relatively superficial things. When we get guys on campus there's always the chance that they discover that we just have something that they didn't even know they wanted. Will Mahone of last year's class is a good example of such a guy.

So, ALLGATOR, I totally get what you are saying, and I think we all have to admit that if you look at it logically it's unlikely that Redfield will flip. But weird things happen when we get kids on campus sometimes. Redfield witnessed a great Notre Dame moment in an electric atmosphere, and that can have consequences that defy logic.

I am not optimistic, exactly, but I'm daring to hope.
