Torii Sr is reportedly close to signing a free agent deal with the Tigers. Won't be a bad thing to be a lot closer to Notre Dame for Jr.

We'd love to have Tori, Sr. in a Tiger uniform. The Tigers are building a powerhouse. The pitching staff is in place. A few more consistent bats in the line-up is always a good thing.

Correct, on WEEI in Boston today they reported he was close to signing w the Tigers in part because it would allow him to be closer to his son. The Red Sox were also interested in signing him, but sounds like the allure of working closer to where his son will be was and is a real factor for him. I am in agreement with him if this is his motivation, as much as I'd like to see him in Boston.

IMO it was down to Texas and Detroit. He was in Detroit for a good portion of the day today.

wow really? that's awesome if true. I kind of had a feeling that's why Detroit was in the mix.

While I'm happy for Torii Sr, I'm also sad that I won't be able to see him and Trout tracking down fly balls for the next couple of years...Best of luck to him and I appreciate everything he did for my Angels and WILL appreciate everything Torii Jr. does for our beloved Irish in the coming years!
