Really interesting point made on TD.
As this all came about from the investigation into the tax assessors office. Just like in Miami even though the player has moved on and can duck the NCAA he can't duck the courts.

Is it even news anymore when USC's football program does something unethical?

^^This.^^

Let me know if they happen to do something charitable or containing any semblance of moral fiber. That would be news.

According to the rule book, if proven this is the death penalty... But of course so was the bush thing.

Is the better question, which players ARE NOT getting paid on their roster?

NCAA gets emails in probe of USC - latimes.com

The Times obtained Schenter's work emails from the assessor's office under the California Public Records Act. A May 2008 email from Delta Air Lines to Schenter includes a receipt for his purchase of a $625 flight from Los Angeles to New Orleans. The listed passenger: "Joe McKnight." Schenter also told The Times that he gave McKnight a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, which was referred to in a 2009 email from an automobile insurance agent.

It was neat that the NCAA went after Penn State but I still dont have any faith in them until they handle Miami and Oregon. If this is true which it seems to be. Wouldn't the NCAA have to hammer SC as well.

My thought is that since this happened before the sanctions were imposed and because the sanctions were pretty severe in NCAA terms, they will likely get a slap on the wrist for this. If anything happens under Kiffin's watch we might have a different story.

You would think that since they are still under sanctions that this would cause for more severe punishment but doesn't seem like that will happen.

It seems like this happens at USC more than other schools, obviously this stuff happens at other schools a la Ohio state and UNC. The USC image doesnt seem very tarnished for being such a dirty program, see their current recruiting class. These allegations remind me of when Florida had like over 20 guys arrested in two years under Urban Meyer.

Does anyone know of any rankings of the dirtiest schools in terms of cheating? That would be an interesting list.
