Don't look now but Miami pulled out a big comeback win over an average Georgia Tech team. Besides a butt kicking they took from Kansas State (who now looks very legit) they've got two close wins over real teams and a win over a walk-over opponent. They have without a doubt the most explosive passing offense we will have faced.

I guess that reinforces the nuetral site decision.

Two weeks to generate some offense of our own.

With as anemic as our offense has been, save for Navy, I don't think we can look past any team w/Fla. speed. Miami may have the best passing attack we'll see but I think our pass rush will be the best they have seen and our secondary looks surprisingly disciplined and remarkably physical.

I said this before the season and no one listened to me. this is going to be a tough game. They have speed, a solid QB, Duke Johnson, a good coach and revenge for the beat down in the Sun Bowl. i wouldn't be surprised to see Miami win.

I know we are 4-0 and ranked #10 in the nation, but I still don't look at a game on our schedule and believe its an automatic win. Even BC, Wake, and Pitt worry me just look at how we played those teams very close last year.

I don't know I think Notre Dame puts the offense together and wins 28-10ish.

Isn't the Miami OL pretty bad?

So after the UM game on Sat my blood pressure must have been a million. I was so exhausted from the week leading up to the game and the game itself I could barely move afterwards. I took a deep breathe and thought to myself, "thank God we have a bye week, I can't take this anymore."

This morning I woke up and was so sad that I have to wait two whole weeks to watch my Irish. I feel like a crack head.

I have watched every Miami game this yr (wife is a diehard) and 2 of the those games were in person, including last weekends come back againt GT. I do agree Miami is a little better than I thought they would be at the beginning of the year but I still think we win this one by 2 scores, hopefully more. GT is not good at all, especially defensively. ND will be able to get a lot of pressure on Morris and when Morris is flustered he make carless passes. Sitting 3 rows up behind the Miami bench I also noticed Miami's Oline was often a mess of pointing fingers, and b!tching at eachother including the oline coach, again against a less talent dline at GT. If Morris is given time he could pick us apart but I dont think he will have the time. Duke didnt really do a whole lot against GT, James was the one who did the damage but again I think our line and linebacker play will help check them both. Now defensivly Miami will be without 1 possibly 2 of their starting LBs and their dline with the exception of Chickillo are not real impressive. Their DBs have played very undisiplined in just about every game I have seen em play. With a bye week and getting a chance to heal up and refocus (EG esp) I think ND takes it. Oh and it will help to have a chilly night in Chicago, them Canes dont handle temps below 50 too well.

Not to mention our performance post-bye week last year...

The last 2 weeks the offense has been going down hill. Miami has been playing pretty good. They beat a more athletic triple option then we did in navy. This game is going to be tough. I believe this will be another Purdue game.

I would absolutely be surprised. Kudos to Miami for the comeback but GaTech had zero pressure and awful pass coverage all game. Stephen Morris will give this game to us after our Dline chases him around for 4 quarters.

Let's see how they do against NC State but with 2 weeks to prepare and a healthy, rested roster, I would be shocked if we lost this game.

Great analysis! Does this mean more ints for Manti? I certainly hope so!

The difference being we beat Navy by 40 points.

That being said, is Miami better than MSU or UM? Thoughts?

I've been wanting to see all-gold uniforms for a long time. Always liked solid-colored uniforms, like Texas's all white. Hopefully that comes next year.

Ummmm, they did that for the spring game. It induced widespread vomiting amongst viewers.

lol, love it. Surely the Shamrock Series designers could do better than that though. I'd like to see them give it another shot.

According to the NCAA websites these are the stats.

Miami ND
Total D 98th 16th
Turnover -2 th +9 5th
sacks T-94th T-9
Rushing D 109th 226 PG 28th 112 PG
Passing D 65th 226 PG 23rd 178 PG

Total Offense 50th T-96th
Passing O 37th 268.5 PG 84th 211 PG
Rushing O 67th 159 PG 87th 140 PG

Our Defense is alot better then theirs. It will be our strong suite vs their strong suite. IF we can come up with a good ame plan we should be able to move the ball pretty well.

I don't know.... Manti looks frigging awesome right there.

I don't think they're bad at all.

They look much better now that ND is 4-0. Heck even Tom Hammond seems a little less incompetent and ghostly with the Irish being 4-0. Winning really does cure all.

So against D1 teams they have given up 32, 52, and 36? With an extra week to prepare I'm hoping the offense is looking a lot better.

I get worried before every game naturally, but I think Miami is getting overrated here. Michigan and Michigan State are better teams.

Hopefully it's a little chilly on Oct. 6th in Chi-town. Miami just seemed totally out of their element in the Sun (irony at it's finest for that game) Bowl two years ago. Tried finding some data on their record outside of the southeastern area but couldn't find anything.

With that being said the first two or three offensive possessions will be huge for not only this game but the rest of the season. If Golson continues to struggle early then it will look more like a trend then a fluke for #5. Gotta get him comfy running the offense early in that game because Miami may be undisciplined but slow they are not. Personally I think Golson continues his trend of looking a lot better away from ND stadium but he will need a full supporting cast to pull it off.

Forecast right now is for rain and 66 degrees.

I am hoping that the coaches impress on the players that ND-Miami used to be HUGE rivalry. Remember, Catholics vs Convicts was before any of these kids were born. I want to see this team come off the bye week still playing hard. Bye weeks concern me; it seems like teams can get rusty with that extra week off and get outplayed by lesser teams. I'm just thankful that the Irish are coming off the bye against a sub-par team instead of facing a team like OU or Stanford. Beat the 'Canes, Irish!
