Drop Boldin or Moss and pick up Ogletree?

#1 on Waivers

12 team league, deep benches. Need to find a diamond in the rough

Could be the Early Doucet effect, I traded Doucet for Julio Jones after week 2 last year.

Then again he looked pretty sharp, and with the game on the line Romo looked to him. I don't like Moss personally, and I think Flacco has a good year this year fwiw.

Have Santonio Holmes, Hakeem Nicks, and Marques Colston as my "starters" with Denarius Moore, Randy Moss, and Anquan Boldin on the bench. I think I can take a risk with this. I picked up Miles Austin in 2010 and Laurent Robinson last year, and it worked out well.

Flash in the pan. Benefited from how thin NYG was at corner. Will not see more than 1/4 of targets rest of the year. The only league where I'm floating a waiver request is my 28 player roster dynasty league.

Word up. Yeah I was lucky enough to snag Austin in '10, saved my season.

The only thing is people were saying Laurent was flash in the pan early last year, and he sustained it the whole season. Part of it was because Dez and Austin weren't totally healthy, but Romo does love that third WR.

This is a really big part of it. I'm not saying Ogletree isn't going to put up pretty solid numbers over the course of year, but I'd be quite surprised to see him get more than 800 yards and 5 TDs in any scenario that doesn't involve Austin or Bryant missing time.

I would probably drop Randy Moss for him though because of the inherent risk that is Randy Moss.

The thing is though, can you honestly envision a scenario where Dez and Austion don't miss time? Those two are incredibly injury prone - the only thing less healthy and functioning than Austin's hamstrings is Tom Cruise's attempt to convince the world he is straight.

I would probably take a flier on Ogletree while dropping Moss as well.

I would be hesitant to use my top waiver on a player after one game in the first weekend... Witten playing with a lacerated spleen, Austin playing without much practice prior, and Dez getting a lot of attention from the secondary played a big part in Ogletree's big day.

0 TDs and <300 yds total in the last three years isn't incredibly encouraging either

+1.

Robinson enjoyed his good year since Miles and Bryant were hurt. I don't think Quan or Moss are anything to write home about, but I would deem them as the better option.

Plus, I don't trust Romo staying healthy either.

Kyle Orton is a pretty decent backup.

I agree with Ironman in that I would take a flyer in if I had my top spots locked up. Leagues are won on the waiver wire.

Of course, that is barring any major injury this weekend.

I vote we make this thread a general fantasy football thread. I like having a place for these types of discussions.

But Austin and Bryant are hurt all the time. The third receiver in Garrett's offense apparently plays a big role.

Also, by nature your waiver claims are always going to be used on guys that didn't get drafted and come out of nowhere. If you wait another week to see what he does, you're he'll be gone. I don't think its a bad use of a waiver claim. There is no guarantee that whoever you wait to get will be better than Ogletree.

The only thing I'd add is that I'd drop Holmes before Moss or Boldin, at least until we see how Moss is going to be used this weekend. Holmes is decent, but that offense/QB situation is atrocious. Holmes isn't ownable to me in just about any format. Maybe a sixteen team, 3 receiver league.

Mike Wallace v. the Jets (and potentially Revis) or Lance Moore against Carolina?

Moore outscored Wallace last week, but I hate sitting a top WR. What do you all think?

If Devery is out and Colston is still banged up that's a tough question. Brees has to throw to someone. Ugh, usually Wallace hands down...

Fwiw I'd gamble Wallace. Especially if Reevis misses time.

Bengals Defense at home vs Brandon Weeden this weekend. Just saw Matthew Berry write they're available in over 75% of ESPN leagues.
You're welcome.

Well, I have a conundrum. Maclin was on the injury report today, but still may play Sunday. Should I wait out Maclin to hopefully play Sunday or go ahead and play James Jones tonight with Jennings out?

My vote is play Jones.

My vote is play Jones.

All these Thursday games are great, but they're going to create some difficult management decisions fantasy wise.

I'd choose Jones as well, unless Jennings is cleared to play. Then I would have to risk it with Maclin.

Pick up Kyle Rudolph. The Niners are going to shut down AP so the Vikes offense will need to be picked up Kyle. Available in most leagues.

Chris Johnson and his o-line are a wreck. And you don't need Rapelisberger when you have Cutty and Shaub. You'd be getting rid of a better running back for a worse one and a QB you don't need. Unless you plan to deal one of your other QB's I would not make this trade, IMHO.

I don't know. I might take that. It's a tough choice though. CJ2K could turn it on and be a stud again... and Big Ben is better than your current back up. According to ESPN, Jamaal and CJ are 20 and 21. Why not. Trades are always and fun and mixes things up. But in the end, it's what you are comfortable with.

Dang bro, you're stacked at rb for a 12 teamer. Fwiw I dont like the trade either for a few resons:
1) personally no faith in CJnoK
2) who needs 3qbs?
3) I don't care for 2:1 trades, you will still need to drop to make room. They may look superficially appealing, but you still need to clear the roster space.
