Spond did play incredibly against the Spartans. Just think, and that was coming off with what he has been through! I would expect inprovement for week two! And he has very competent and deep backup. This is the best we have ever been fixed at OLB. And Prosise can move back to safety, where he will surprise and please.

Starting against Michigan

OLB 13 Danny Spond 6-2 248 Jr.
30 Ben Councell 6-5 240 So.
45 Romeo Okwara 6-4 239 Fr.

Is this a wish list? Or for real?

It is the depth chart fro this weekends game.

And that's how it should be

I f'in love it.

He played great last week, too. Big Danny Spond fan here.

Not sure how much he'll play this week though. Against Denard, do people think we are more likely to use Shumate (and maybe Prosise)? I'd think we'd want to maximize our speed at that position this week.

If Slaughter weren't hurt I'd expect to see a lot of Farley at OLB, but Diaco may figure we need Farley at safety. Not sure how much confidence he has in the guys behind Farley and Motta.

I might be overthinking this though. It might be Spond and Councell all the way.

Kelly said Spond would play outside against UM. Waiting for his comments tonight.

Another very good game for him. Glad to see all the hard work paying off for him.

At the game it was clear that Danny singlehandedly robbed Drob of the outside, except one play. And on that play he knew he had outside help from the corner, so he penetrated a little deeper to slow drob down, and when the corner came up he still pursued inside - out and blasted him. I didn't see much missing on Drob by the man!

Another amazing story of personal triumph. This dude was in the hospital for two days fearing the worst for his life just a month ago and is now healthy and on the field playing his heart out! He has been tremendous at OLB.

Btw, did anyone get a good look at the forced fumble? I couldn't really see how the ball came out. I was surprised they gave Danny credit for forcing it because it looked to me like he didn't get much of Robinson on that play.

From the replay it looked like Spond slapped the ball against Denards leg which caused it to go flying 5 yards forward.

I believe Denard actually started to shat his pants when he saw Spond bearing down on him, and as he went to grab his own arse to prevent a bowel movement on the field in front of a national audience, he dropped the ball. Thus, Danny got credit for forcing the fumble. It's really pretty clear on the replay.

I like your story better Me2, where do you get this shiit? Cracks my @ss up. Though that was right he got all ball and it did hit drobs thigh as it was coming forward, and glanced off at a downward angle. It is kind of funny because the one thing that would have been an insufferable night for me. Remember last year when we ripped the running back at the goal line and it bounced right into his belly? Another of those and I would have had to jump out of my bedroom window.

No, unfortunately. He played special teams.

He's been outstanding all season long.

This... His play has solidified the front seven. His level of play is well above what Shembo did last year there. He's allowed Shembo to play his more natural position now and excelling because of it.
Spond's increased productivity at the DOG and the improved play of the corners have been big reasons for our success defensively.
Oh yeah, and some guy named Manti Teo.

Spond is playing beastly! So glad he was able to overcome his health issues. It's funny to me that I thought when he was recruited that he was gonna be a QB and be our Tebow. Glad that didn't work out!;)
