Thought thios might be a fun thread to make, have any of you said or done or even considered doing anything that made you step back and think you might be too big of an irish fan. Not that Im saying anything is wrong with beiung a big fan but has anyone ever did anything like that.

My example is all season thus far Ive been lucky enough to have saturday off this upcoming saturday is the first saturday I have worked in quite a while. Yester the thought entered my head to actually call in sick and give up a days pay on the off chance that my superstition of being off every saturday can help us beat Michigan. Ive since thought that maybe it would be in more of my best interest to work that day (though Im still willing to call in sick of someone would be willing to remburse my pay ;) ) but has anyone else done or though about doing something that caused them to think that maybe theyve taken thier fandom too far or maybe theyre too superstitous? This isnt a knock if you have or do but I thought we could have some fun with some stories here.

I have a lucky shirt that I wear. I will wear it every Saturday as long as they keep winning.

Not so unusual you say? Well, here is the twist - I could not watch the Purdue game live. I had to record it on DVR. The game was already over by the time I sat down to start my viewing, but I still had to put on my lucky shirt for fear that not doing so would tear open the fabric of space and time and actually change the outcome of a game that already took place.

Yeah, I need help.

If things are going well, everyone in my man cave have to stay in the exact same spots. You should see me with beers and such....have to put down in the exact same spot. Lets just say during the michigan state game most things in my man cave including people didnt move much

I have to sit in the same spot on the couch also. Plus I always lean forward or even stand while the game is on and I will only allow myself to lean back and relax during commercials. I feel like if I'm not leaning forward somthing bad will happen. Crazy I know. O and I'm constantly praying during the games for stops on third downs, turnovers, 3rd down conversions, etc... and most importantly WINS! Sometimes I feel a little bad praying for such things. Hahaha

We were up 14-3 and I ran to the kitchen to grab a drink. Just as I was coming back into the living room the game came back on. I ran to the couch and grabbed a hold of the back of it (open floor plan) because it felt like if I wasn't touching the couch they might throw a pick or fumble.

My wife left the kitchen one Saturday 3 years ago and we gave up a big play to lose the game at that moment. She's been chained to the stove ever since.

I give my brother-in-law a hard time for having to have his "Man U" chair in a specific spot and everyone locked out of the room when he watches a game.. he literally believes it has to be the same way every time.. It is retarted.

Although, I do find if I'm watching a ND game with others, something good always happens when I take an extra long leak and miss a play.

I have to drink from the same ND cup every game, and I HAVE to take a shot of tequila out of my 4 horseman shot glass, chased with a jalapeno.

I can't eat or drink during a game. My appetite just shuts down. I'll also do little chores during commercials. You've never seen anyone take the trash out so fast in your life. That includes a new bag in the can. lol

Anytime I talk about the possibility of future success, whether it be a NC or a 3rd down conversion I MUST KNOCK ON WOOD.

I'm doing it right now and that doesn't even make sense.

If a big play happens I will stay the exact way I was sitting no matter how uncomfortable. I will also never change anything if we are doing good so on Saturday I was sweating from how hot my house was but I never opened a window or turned on a fan until the game was over.

Haha I was cooking dinner during the commercial breaks of the Purdue game. Never chopped an onion so fast in my life. I also had to put socks on so I could slide across the kitchen floor to move faster.

My wife said it was the worst dinner I ever made. I didn't care because everything tastes delicious after a win.

My kinda woman! Bring your cup, shot glass and jalapeños ... I'll arrange for the tequila, etc. to be delivered to you after the game ends.

Promise?! Because I've never been to a ND/scUM game and I know how ice hole-ish those scUM fans are, and I'm nervous. Plus they'll be drinking all day, compounded with the fact that ND is going to beat the brakes off them...I'm gonna need a whole 5th!!!!

I'm with the above mentioned somewhere that I absolutely cannot sit still for more than 2 plays in a row. I have to stand up, pace around or change seats almost constantly. I get too amped. Every time I saw Golson load up to let one fly deep last Saturday, I got up and held my breath. When Goodman caught that TD, I paced around my mancave and did the Ric Flair "WHOOO" as loud as I could until the next kickoff.

I make my girlfriend watch games with me... nothing in life frightens her after seeing my gameday antics for the past five years.

I will not get on IE during the day before and while the game is going on. The times that I did get on before the games last year ND would loose. So this year no IE for me until after the game is over.

Whatever shirt I wear, if they win, will be worn the next week. Problem is this week, Saturday night, going to Atlanta to the music festival. I will still be wearing it...

-I must stand during the game. That is a must. How can people sit during an ND game?
-I wear my ND jersey all day Saturday win or lose.
-I cannot and will not miss a single play on T.V.; I missed one last year; a touchdown pass from Rees to Floyd. It was like they never even scored a TD.

I have called in to work in the past b/c I could not deal with haters after a loss.... i know, I bow my head in shame.

Saturday night I watched the MSU possesions in the den and the Notre Dame possesions in the bedroom with the wife... I found it worked pretty well so I kept doing it... lol

funny what sports/passions can do to a normally rational person/people

The past two years my main trend has been to become depressed for hours before every single ND game expecting a loss... regardless of opponent... still can't kick that one.

This type of stuff is pretty funny and interesting. My brother, a Duke grad, was watching the opening round of the tourney a few years back and put his socked foot against the television to wipe something off. It was before a Duke free throw that they made, so he actually spent the rest of the tournament touching the television with a socked foot before Duke free throws. Who knows? They won it that year.

The same brother called my mother's boyfriend, a Phillies fan, to congratulate him on the WS win, right before Mitch Williams pitched to Joe Carter. My mother's boyfriend screamed at him, "What the %&$# are you doing?" hung up, and Joe Carter proceeded to take Mitch "The Bitch" yard.

I work Saturday nights, so I miss a lot of ND games live. But I will say I haven't shaved since the start of the season, except my neck. I actually trimmed some whiskers today with scissors and I'm kind of freaked about it. I'm also not talking the team up to anyone of my friends and just taking it game by game.

Luckily I dont work with a lot of sports people if I was still in high school it would be hell after a loss.
